We're running into a bit of a delay with producing all of the shots for our planned second part of the F-14 update.

So can we expect an update today or can I go to bed? :smilewink:

the way she fly's is just wonderful, this module will make you the stuff of legends :smilewink:

wonderful news about the animated deck crew as well it all has a massive effect on the total immersion. I have a request that I mentioned years ago in a post, is it possible to develop little patches of water that you sometimes see on the carrier deck and the subsequent reflections from that on a rainy day.

I just know this module will result in the demise of my marriage LN

Well buy ur wife a copy and she Can be ur Rio.

If your gonna have someone yelling at you it might as well be the wife ^^.

Then you can convert it into something good.

As she can spend all her irritation/Anger by shouting at you for not doing the right things ingame instead of commenting about what you do in real life ^^.

We can see it tomorrow?

Mission: "To intercept and destroy aircraft and airborne missiles in all weather conditions in order to establish and maintain air superiority in a designated area. To deliver air-to-ground ordnance on time in any weather condition. And to provide tactical reconaissance imagery" - F-14 Tomcat Roll Call

Hi Leatherneck,

I love the new movie and the Tomcat 3D model looks outstanding, especially the nose (which is often not captured quite right).

I did notice that the rear beaver-tail seems slightly short (relative to the exhaust nozzles and horizontal stabilizers):

Here is a comparison shot on another F-14B.

Shape seems good, just slightly short. Also, the flare/chaff dispenser is a bit small and a bit out of position.

Thanks for listening. :)

Best,

Nick

PS - BTW, this little fault, wingroot, and the "Hasegawa-like" TCS are the only problems that I see. Everything else looks perfect IMHO. Also, if this type of "3D feedback" post gets irritating, let me know. I don't have an ego about it, just letting you know what I see. :)

yeah it does seem a little truncated but not sure if it can be chalked up to distortion from the ingame camera, or distortion from the actual camera. most notably, the distance from the leading edge root of the stabilator to the trailing edge root of the wing appears short. my eyes say that the fuselage section aft of the cockpit is truncated in relation to the latter.

however if you guys are building off of the most accurate technical drawings available of the f14 and this is exact to that then i won't argue.

Actually you're probably dead-on! Thanks for the feedback though.

The beavertail is one of the next items on the chopping block and it's been wrong for a while.

Not only in shape and accuracy, but the topology is fairly poor in that area and should be redone.

Other stuff (mostly) is: correcting incorrect antennaes (we have some from the -D right now, doh), fixing the TCS issues you pointed out, Elevon size (they're way too big right now), fixing all the issues that came with adjusting the fuselage (skewed and bent hatches and elements due to reshaping), and fixing the size and location of the flare / chaff dispenser. We're also needing to fix various issues with the gear (the tires currently do not have their cant) and we're redoing the entire gearbays and much of the detailing on the struts themselves. Also need to redo the hubcaps.

I probably missed a bunch of stuff; but we'll be fixing these issues while another artist begins UV mapping the items that we are happy with (like the wings! :D)

Plane modeling is hard!

Man.

I feel so terribly sorry for the person who has the task of UV mapping. Good luck.

I have to say, i was really impressed with the detail added to thw wings control surfaces. The mechanics and animations of the model is incredibly good for a "low poly". (depends what you call low poly i guess.. Lets rather say it's impressive for a game ready object)

Plane modelling looks hard and I really respect the work that you are doing here. Especially since there are so many little nuances that don't translate even on perfect drawings (how often are they perfect anyway?) and photos can be skewed, etc.

But here is the important part, your current model REALLY looks like a Tomcat! :D And watching it in motion really strikes a chord, it looks awesome. Most of these little errors will only be noticed by nerds like me, but the total effect of creating such a perfect model really does enhance the overall experience.

Even after over a year of flying the MiG-21 (almost daily) - I'm still amazed by the visuals. It gives me real confidence that the Tomcat will be perfect when its done.

Thanks again for your tireless attention to my favorite airplane!

The puppy is our only hope at this moment. Make it so Aginor! :D
