hansangb Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 There is a sticky thread "All things VR" You should check that video out as a start. And you should post your HW specs so people can assist better. Here it is: DCS World Guide for All things VR hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

Mad Dog 7.62 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I remember how impressed I was when I first jumped in the A-10 on the Rift! I remember finding myself trying to reach for switches in the cockpit! But, after the newness wore off, I too was disappointed in the settings I had to run at to keep decent frame rates. I eventually upgraded to a 1080ti card and it has made a huge difference. Now in 2.2 I am getting very smooth framerates AND good visuals! Very nice. Today I was flying without the Rift while I mapped some controls for the A/V-8B and thought.....UGH! Once you fly in VR its never the same again without it!! 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Gigabyte GA97XSLI Core i7 4790 @ 4.0 Ghz MSI GTX 1080ti 32 Mb RAM DDR3-2133 512GB SSD for DCS HP Reverb VR HMD Thrustmaster Warthog & MFG Crosswind
drsgfire Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Hey guys. It's been a while since I've posted up here. Just got an Oculus last week and started playing around with it and I am absolutely in love with this thing. Still working on the graphics settings to get the best image I can. So the reason why I'm posting is because I got to thinking about the whole "Oculus Touch" conundrum. I started googling for something like a touch glove like device and I found this https://developer.leapmotion.com/vr-setup/oculusrift/ Judging from the tech demo videos it seems like this thing could be the missing link for flight simmers. Can you imagine not having to mess with a keyboard ever again... amazing to think it could be a real thing. Any thoughts on this or has anyone seen a working version of this?
dogbite Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I bought the original Leap and the Rift mount quite a while back. It was interesting, but not very accurate. Sits on the shelf now collecting dust now. They apparently have a V2 in the works and Pimax 8 has a module attachment in development so maybe we will see more and better possibilities down the road. More adoption and development could make it a reasonable controller option if they can make it accurate enough. Time will tell. hannibal Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 i tried to get my leap motion back into my setup, and it was NOT good. V2 is the software. grant it is much improved from when it first came out. it works very well tracking your hands in desktop mode (having the sensor on the table), but it is still flaky (to me) in VR mode (having the sensor vertically) my hands did not track well when i held it up to my for head for testing. find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
drsgfire Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Well, poop. That's a bummer to hear. Seems like someone would be able to make a tight fitting glove with a sensor on each finger tip would probably work well.

Seems like someone would be able to make a tight fitting glove with a sensor on each finger tip would probably work well. FlyInside supports Leap Motion in FSX. I read that it is pretty good for large buttons an toggles if they are far enough apart, but DCS birds have a serious amount of instruments that are so small and close together that it accuracy wouldn't make it practical. Oculus has been working on gloves for months. No doubt others, if not already, will be as well. It makes sense for VR and given how well Oculus developed Touch, I would think what ever comes out the door will nudge others to follow suit. nereal1978 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Hello guys, I need HELP!!!! I just bought a new PC and the OR, I have tried several graphic settings but I'm still disappointed at how the game looks in the OR, I found that it's very hard to spot targets on the ground playing 1.5 version, I find everything so fuzzy, it's very hard to distinguish even what kind of plane you have two spots from you even while your sitting on the ground, I've read several posts where people are so happy with the rift, but the way the game looks on the monitor (nothing sophisticated, just playing on a HD monitor with 1920X1024 resolution) it's so beautiful, and when you jump on the OR even the experience and the immersion it's so great, it just doesn't make the game that enjoyable, I will appreciate some tips about making things more clear and less blurry during the game. i-7700k, 16GB RAM, GTX 1080, SSD 250GB nothing is over clocked
Rocky49 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Nereal: your observations about target spotting are a common theme by most users and various mods and labels have been tried all with mixed results. For me the CV1 gives me back the real sensation of flying. The first time I took off, at the moment I pulled back the stick, my stomach dropped, just like it does in a 172. I was hooked!! All aspects of co-ordinated flight are much easier in VR. This is a first generation of commercial VR. When the next generation comes out I suspect we will have a much field of view coupled with much higher resolution. For me I can live with the limitations of the CV1, in fact I do not enjoy flying with track IR anymore. You will have to decide if you can live with it's issues. dogbite Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 (edited) Too be fair, if you thought you were going to get the sharpness of monitor quality then you didn't do enough research. Pilots here have been discussing targeting issues in VR for a year and a half. Identifying targets at a distance is an issue in current headset resolutions. Most turn on labels or just live with it for now. Like many, I ordered the Rift 2 years ago aware that it wasn't as clear as a monitor and we couldn't even turn up the pixel density (VR setting in game) at that time. Even so it was about the immersion and being willing to make trade-offs for that. Vast majority seem willing to live with it since they would rather be in the aircraft than flying a flat image in a room on a screen with less than 1 to 1 360 degree tracking. You can bet your booty that many of us Pimax 8K Kickstarters are first gen hmd owners looking for improvement in this very thing. Jabbers has a great video on how you can maximize the clarity (it'll never be as clear s monitor). 2) Pixel Density. Give 1.5 or 1.7 a try. 3) 2.x looks much much better than 1.5. So you may have to wait for the 2.5 merge where the free Caucuses map will be available. 4) If you are near sighted, make sure you wear your glasses. It makes a world of difference. I thought "since I'm nearsighted I'll skip glasses since the screen is a few inches from my face. WRONG!" If your glasses don't fit, try the goggle from sites like vr-lens-lab.com. I don't like the lens inserts as much. But take a look at the goggles. I can't speak for farsighted users' experience since I'm not farsighted. 5) Pay *close* attention to Jabbers video hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

Thanks for taking the time to replayed my post, I agree with you 100% that the experience with VR is way better than playing on the monitor, there are many other guys that replayed as well and it seems that I was not doing anything wrong or, missing something in the setting up process, as other guys said, I hope next VR generation improve resolution. Thank again, Cheers!!!!

nereal1978 Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Guys I have another question for you, How do I turn on labels on the rift, I'm playing campaigns in the 1.5 version and looks like the "LSHIFT+F10" does nothing, is there a way to turn the labels on while playing on the rift? Thanks
Tricky11 Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 How is 1.5 with the latest update as regards the stuttering can anyone tell me? I am currently building a new pc so i cant try myself.

Thanks I believe you first have to turn labels on in your settings, and then the mission must also allow to turn on labels, then LSHIFT+F10 should work.
