Considering this is a beta release it actually feels very complete... Outstanding work PolyChop ..

You really think because you pay for something, you don't need to also thank the people that provided it for you? Why not think about the long hours that have been invested into the project, that took years, and without any reward? It is only this past week or so that Polychop workers saw any reward whatsoever for their efforts. So I would suggest that alone means we owe them a debt of gratitude, don't you?

I am totally for constructive criticism, and no one doubts your sincerity regarding the flight model. Please please please continue to say precisely what you think, and feel can be improved. Just do what everyone else on the forum eventually has to do, and ignore the irrelevant criticism. Everyone is entitled to a viewpoint, but that doesn't equate to everyone being right all the time.

As for your free testing work, wouldn't you say there is self interest there? And of course, no one can make you do it, so if it bothers you, why do it? It is simple really, you do it to improve your own experience with the Gazelle, which ought to be a reward in itself, wouldn't you agree?

And for your input, which is valued, I would like to say thank you, even if I don't always agree!

If you don't get it by now, then I have nothing more to say.

Off course we are all grateful. That was not my point, maybe I didn't fully explain myself. Tend to have that issue.

Regards.

Ok, here is my praise:

1. On the few occasions when I have flown a real helicopter (Scout, Wasp, Gazelle) quite often my instructor would say "the reason we are wobbling is because you are moving the stick, STOP MOVING THE STICK!". The Polychop Gazelle teaches this point very well, when I stop moving my joystick it flies much better.

2. Like the real Gazelle very small control movements are needed. I think that if you can hover the Polychop Gazelle accurately then you would probably make a reasonable job of hovering a real Gazelle.

3. If it was easy it wouldn't be half as much fun, I am really enjoying this DCS module, thanks Polychop.

I agree - I'm having loads of fun in it.

I was just saying to another member - I'm using some new(ish) pedals now, in the shape of the Saitek Cessna Pro unit. They are much less responsive than my old G940 pedals, in every sim I fly, and especially with the rotaries in DCS. I think that is actually a big advantage with the Gazelle.

By that, I mean they are smoother (so actually more responsive?) and a feeling of more control in the gazelle, but less control in the other helicopters.

Now I'm confusing myself...

I love this helicopter. I am flying very well in her and am now inputting coordinates to get to the target area. There is much I need to learn about getting to a masked location and maintaining a hover quickly and attacking. I am having a blast. I did manage to start my HELIOS work. My profile is rough as I am mainly testing. I have the TV, NADIR, FM, and VHF all exported to my touchscreen. I love this!!!! Great job!

I think this is the point.

I would expect my first flight in a real chopper to be a seriously wobbly affair and Polychops are delivering that to me in the SIM, so for me this something special right there.

I would be amazed if the FM is perfect at Beta release but I am starting to think it is pretty much there. I think something strange is occurring when landing or hovering low... I dunno something like ground effect bite on only half the blade disk area and the chopper flips suddenly in some direction... but this only sometimes happens.

I heard this module was in beta and got what I expected. But I have no prior experience with beta modules sooooo.... nothing to compare it to.

No matter how hard I rake through my experiences flying this, the only things that aren't outstandingly good are the flight and damage models. The damage model is the only one that is truly bugged. The flight model is a case of "doesn't feel right based on my experience with other modules/simulators". Autorotations are so drastically different from the huey, at first I thought this was a bug but I recently realized the massive difference between two blades on a lightly loaded disk and three blades on a heavily loaded disk.

The above is a testament to Polychop's fantastic work on this module. Sometimes while flying it I'll stop and think: wait, this is considered unfinished?

DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule.

In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

This module is awesome. I am really enjoying it in the Oculus DK2. I crash almost every time I try to land but I will get better with more practice.

What is a Butt sensor? Does it vibrate?:megalol:

Actually it does ;) ...you feel rotor vibrations etc. with your lower back as it is attached to the seat/airframe... :)

When you go up or down you can feel it in your intestines as well.

A close representation of the vibration feedback is actually the Simshaker from Andre, either with Jetseat or a Basspump (low-frequency bass inducer) .

I use the Basspump to have "force feedback" for my butt, and you can now feel ETL, beginning VRS, weapon launch, ground contact...

I'll add my praise for Polychop. The DCS Gazelle is fun to fly, even if there are possible FM issues. It's an early release, so no complaints. It's the sports car helicopter I've been waiting for in DCS. Because it came out with a good enough manual, some basic training missions and other little details like that, that makes this one of the more complete releases we've seen in DCS. I'm looking forward to your future work. Thanks!

Excellent video and a great review.

I am having an absolute blast with this module, Polychop have done an outstanding job on it. What a truly great first release

The attention to detail is amazing, only gripe I have is I can't fly it with an Oculus......cause I haven't got one! but for all the modules I do have this is the one I would want an Oculus for.

I'm hoping it gets released today for 1.5.x as the campaign that comes with the Gazelle looks great fun and very professionally done.

I'm down now to buy everything that Polychop releases if the Gazelle has set their standard...... :joystick:

Well done Polychop

Good video Phantom 88 and I totally agree...

The more you fly her the better she gets... a very controllable chopper.

I have the jetseat....it's worth it. Working with Andre and his team to get simshaker working for the gazelle.

To throw my $0.02 worth in, I think for a first release you should be very proud of your work Polychop.

Great looking module which is well developed for an early release. Lots of fun to fly and I even killed a truck last night for the first time.

Sure there are some aspects that need a bit of polish, tuning (damage model for one) and some more features to be implemented, but all to be expected in the world of early release.

Not quite sure what the go is with Captain Creepy/ Chucky in the left hand seat.

Last point, do I think it was money well spent? Absolutely!!!

Now that's the best news yet. :) Thankyou.

Oh and a huge Thankyou for this module, granted the Gazelle is one of the few UK military helicopters I've not had the pleasure to fly in, but I find her an absolute joy to fly, well worth the wait. I loving every minute I spend in her, even if I've still got to do a landing where I can use the same helo again. ;)

Yeah were getting there with testing. I find it very awesome when you hit the vortex she starts to shake. Gives me a couple second advantage so I can recover much faster. it's saved my Gazelle many of times.
