So you are blaming ED for the fact that Buddyspike is running a server that lags? ED have stated the the MP is 16 player.

 

You can set the limit to 4 players also just to be sure. It's just not what clients seek for as we reached 2016 and the statistics shows the opposite.

Yes but is it fair to blame ED for the fact that you are overloading the server? What about trying to set your server to 32 players?

It's not just the players limit. We had and have sessions without lag for the last 3 weeks.

There are other serious stuff going on the backround which are important for an event like Blue Flag that DCS can't handle easily. We spot and solve daily. It's not easy. But the main picture is not such bad as some try to present, otherwise the server wouldn't be full and people wouldn't ask to kick players that stay on spectators in order to let them in.

 

We didn't blame ED from our part. We just try to follow the needs of the community which we think asks for large scale PvP campaigns like this.

Okay, lets quickly break down the farp to airbase distances and we'll quickly see where there is a hole in your logic.

You got hit hard by sarcasm. Please notice the map layout is asymmetrical... now you spilt on straight line distances where I care bout.

Red got bread for candy while blue is chewing on skittles and still manages to complain...

I don't think Buddy Spike is particularly responsible for what one player on their server does so long as he's not abusing other players directly.

 

I think Eagle Dynamics can handle having its dignity besmirched in a manner that they'll never know about.

Is one event held without any problems since the first edition DCS? ...NO. All have problems and many are stoped.

How many servers were unstable before the DCS? ...Only bad servers but that servers are shutdown shortly.

 

Otherwise, I have never mentioned ED but, who is guilty for this circus, in normal games called as multiplayer?

Well, there is aircraft's enough to select from to fill the Blue side with 50 players also.

Update on bomber script -

Thanks to work from Ciribob, the bombers will now pick 6 targets and will engage them instead or area bombing.

This change will allow for the bomber idea to create the diversity and tactics of an attack.

 

The update should be going into the server tonight!

Please give us your feedback after testing it in the campaign.

It seems to be the fighter guys who are the most vocal ones. They are complaining about player balance I.E being outnumbered. Personally I like to fly helicopters and strikers and I think it is fine that there is a prime time when we have more players and can push and another time of the 24 hour cycle when the other team has numbers and can push. it actually works better from the perspective of this striker/helo pilot.

 

And even without many enemy players on it is still a challenge to take ground with the coordination involved and the AI. So I wanted to post this to give another perspective

Sounds interesting, glad you guys are revising the bombers to give them a bit more of a role to play here.

 

My group flies the L-39 a bit, maybe we'll give it a shot later tonight if we're drunk enough and feel like throwing some lives into the pit.

Great change on the bomber task! You guys are doing a great job of listening to feedback and implementing changes. Fishnuts should be happy to hear about this one. This is a big win for the gazelle pilots as well.

Let's balance the game. How about we make a 10v10 server with F15 only and two airfield only, without anythign else than gun ?

 

Even if one do that, some people will still complain about balance because of sun position, moutains coverage, player experiences, plane color.

 

 

Just diregard the 19 pages of "game balance complains". They will never stop, it actually doesn't worth to bother about it. Just find me one balanced air combat in ****ing aviation history :D

You just gave a very one-sided perspective. I notice you fly during the American time slot where the odds are 3:1 or at worst 2:1. This makes it pretty easy to get anywhere you want go, and have your fun. You've probably never had to play in the reverse odds or if you have then I doubt for long.

 

I prefer to fly choppers, and I tried to do that last night, but Bluefor continually counter picked my spawn location, and flew a Mirage or F-15 to my location to shoot me down. What am I to do, suffer in a fighter every night during round 6 like I had to in round 5, so you can have your fun in your helo? Not this time. I'm just going to observe from the sidelines while you guys have fun with the AI.

There is no challenge from the AI whatsoever, the only time taking a base out becomes troublesome is caused by two factors time and real opponents.

On a good day one 25T can kill both AI fighters and kill every unit in one flight, just imagine what ten players could do against the AI.

For all this whining, id just like to reiterate that blue flag is the best experience in dcs. I really enjoy it, despite its imperfection.

Okay, we are playing a simulator, in which war was there a thing called balance ?

 

I think its pretty good as it is atm and I agree with darkwolf, if it was impossibly 100% balanced, it would probably be pretty boring.

 

Like the change to the b1 script btw. !

 

Is it possible to save a list of flying players every 15 seconds or something to give the flying players a life back in case of server crash ?

15 seconds seems like a good tradeoff between performance and experience imho.

Bomber change list:

  • If the Bomber finds no targets, it'll carpet bomb the area which'll look spectacular
  • If the Bomber finds real targets, it'll drop precision munitions and bomb up to 10 ground targets
  • Hawk / L-39 can now transmit Intel over the radio once gathered instead of having to land the same as the Gazelle

 

Please do give feedback on these changes once you've seen them in action as the precision munitions amount will probably need tweaking.

 

Make sure you engage those bombers now! :thumbup:

 

Edit: Forgot to say, this should be in after the next restart in 30 minutes or so

So by some peoples logic on here I better not fly right now. Blue is outnumbered 2:1. 30 red to 12 blue. It goes both ways depending on the time of day. In your prime time if your outnumbered maybe you should of chosen the other collation or only fly on weekends. You must of known before you joined the way the numbers swing.

You aren't following my logic at all. I'm saying you wouldn't have fun if you had no choice but to play 1:3 and then some odds every time you got to play.

 

Blue Flag isn't simulating a real war. If it were then every underhanded (read cheat) trick in the book would be used, and it would all be "FAIR" game because reasons... What its trying to be is a competitive event where two opposing sides are trying to achieve the objective, and have "FUN" while doing it.

 

Do you think it's okay for a competitive event such as Basketball, Football, Hockey, Soccer, etc. to have a team with a numerical advantage in any form? How competitive let alone fun do you think it's going to be for the team with the odds 1:3? What about the fans of that team? Are they going to enjoy the match?

 

If you think you can have fun in stacked environment, then I invite you to join Redfor, but I seriously doubt you will. I will however take your advice, and ask Buddy Spike to move me to Bluefor.

 

TL;DR: A script needs to keep the player difference low.
