DCS World Weekend News Update Discussion

Its possible it could install with the NTTR Alpha. But nothing has been determined yet.

Technically 2.5 is DCS w/ the new Lightning Engine / Shaders etc.

New Terrains could run on DCS 2.0, 2.5 is not required.

Did not know that...guess I missed something...thanks for the info.

Then it might be possible Normandy comes in before the revamped Caucuses?

<S>

It seems that there is a hint that ED may go in that direction. Nothing to base it on really, but it seems to be a happy medium to satisfy some of the customer base.

And another sale. Along with promises.

I'll say tho F18 pit looking great. The cities over NTTR will make (to me) a difference - flying over empty terrain is boring.

Back to present, i'll belive it when I see it.

Do we have a pending list of what 2.5 will bring? Besides combining everything into a single executable which will allow map switching within the app.

Thanks,

I may be part of the patiently silent group waiting on the sidelines and offering my congratulations and support to all who are working on the various modules. I purchase every module, financial support, and await improvements and manuals and more campaigns.

As a simmer for many years I am more than pleased with the offerings from DCS and the groups longevity.

I am certain many in the patient and silent group believe they have received a good bang for my buck. Should the regulars of the forums reduce I am certain there are large numbers who are patiently awaiting your next module whatever the sequence.

I recall when Flaming Cliffs came out and we were surprised to have Black Shark module and having been given the option of purchasing the manual for the same price as the module which I still have in its leather binder.

No Ladies and Gentleman all is well in the simming world time is not a factor when you have so much to enjoy and our graphic cards continue to improve and the learning curve remains steep.

Sorry guys but I'm afraid the hype train has derailed. From the RU side of the forums, Chizh answers some questions about future releases. All credits for the initial heads up to IkeaStoolSample.

Q: As I understand, there will be no F/A-18 this year?

A: No, there's still work for at least a year.

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2937019&postcount=2049

Q: And a plan for the DCS 2.5 release in 2016?

A: No, not this year. There will be a big Nevada update and early access for Normandy.

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2937016&postcount=2047

Q: I remember last year developers saying the 2016 will be the "year of aircraft carriers". We're almost in November, so anything changed about that?

A: Yes, changed. Carriers are postponed.

Typical :music_whistling:

Hoping for more clarification, but yeah it seems this is becoming the pattern. I am wondering if the Caucasus map upgrade is the bottle neck.

More than satisfied with the early access WWII Map. Sure the hornet will be a first day buy and all the hype about carrier ops is justified but really when I look back to how much we have now compared to 3 or 4 years ago................more time to learn all those modules I never fly:)

Hmm..with to the additions to the thread title, it really gave the impression that they had this thing dialed in.

Either this info is being taken out of context or something drastic has changed the priorities.

if you guys want to be overoptimistic thats fine but why act so outraged when reality comes knocking?
I think the feeling comes not from the delay itself, but from the fact that only a portion of the userbase was directly spoken to, whilethe others were given much more vague statements.

Then again, those posts are from this morning, ED might still be preparing a public statement for the English portion of their customers.

I think perhaps it's out of context. just a couple of months ago, Matt hinted that the 2016 window was still possible for the Hornet. Can't imagine the alpha just got delayed a year. Clarification ED?

Because the reality is that 2.5 was multiple times said to be coming before the end of this year....

Not just more of the same divided DCS version stuff that we have had. We were not being over optimistic. We were going off what the devs said.... we realized that everything is subject to change, but didn't think that would apply to the most "sure" of their releases.

Let's not forget that 2.5 is actually the much delayed DCS 2.
