Marky3254
Is there any way of getting rid of those nasty looking helicopters and biplanes that litter airbases?

crazyeddie
Remove the edm files from the shapes folder, but every time the game updates it will put them back, so learn how to do that with JSGME. zaelu
For the Mi-8 you can use a mod made by HungaroJet http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/446451/ Note that now it is not compatible with Integrity Check. ED should just make this default imho. For An-2 biplane... it's trickier... there is no updated 3d mesh but there is one small texture done years ago by one modder which sadly I forgot who he is (I'd bet he's a very known one). This texture does enough to reduce the nausea induced by looking at the poor plane. I attach a small JSGME/OvGME mod that contains just that. Note that if you have some map texture pack mod (like Starway's) you can simply put the file in the archive with the name LandTextures... Sorry if it sounds complicated... it isn't it's a 3 second job that take 60 seconds to describe :D. If you use JSGME just extract from the archive the folder (without the text files) named "AN-2 texture Mod" to your _Mods folder and activate. If you are using OvGME (which I recommend and it is way cooler! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=171956) then you either copy the entire archive as is into OvGME Mods folder and activte it... or you can use the uber "import mod" function from OvGME menus and import the mod (essentially copy it) from your Downloads folder to Mods folder and activate it. And since we are at An-2... Someone please build an An-2 module! :pilotfly: EDIT Author of AN-2 small retexture is CHSubZero! Marky3254
Thanks for your posts peeps. zaelu: Thanks for you post, very useful. It seems the whole integrity check business voids modding to a great degree. I haven't used JSGME yet as at first look it seemed difficult and I usually don't get along with mod organisers. I will have to spend some time with JSGME/OvGME sometime, it's either that or collate all the mods I want to use so I can drop them into the DCS World directory and keep a dirty/clean DCS World directories and rename them when I want to chose which to use. Hope that makes sense, it's 3am...

Marky3254
The new textures for the An-2 Colt and MI-8 at least makes them look a lot better but my issue is if I'm making a mission for the A-10 or Gazelle I want the airbase to look American, British or NATO and not have a ton of Soviet gear clogging up the place. crazyeddie
In that case create a mod to remove the offending kit. Identify what it is called, create a JSGME mod to insert a removed-edm into the right place. Say you want to remove all of the barrack blocks called kazarma1 Find where the edm for that is located, it could be in bazar/world/shapes, it could be in terrains/caucasusbase/structures/high/EDM, or other places. Create a remove file by copying kazarma.edm and change its name to kazarma1.edm-remove Put that file in your JSGME Mod. The mod inserts that and the thing you want removing is removed. Note that it is removed from ALL sites in the map, so its gone completely from the maps. When the game tries to update uninstal the Mod before it does, then reinstal, problem solved. That works but as I say, dcs keep changing things around, so it might not always work in future. If you don't know how to use JSGME now is the time to learn, see my earlier post. Fracture
I thought about making some different aircraft models to replace them but it's not high on my priority list right now. Harpoon
#MilShaming If you want to talk to anyone about anything personal, send it to their PM box. Interpersonal drama and ad hominem rebuttal are things that do not belong on a thread viewed by the public. One thing i have to point out... naming a thread.. "OK, so" is as useful as tits on a bull.
