ED Team f-18hornet Posted October 7, 2016 ED Team Posted October 7, 2016 Hey I have a problem with my brand new GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1070 WINDFORCE OC, 8GB GDDR5 which I got today. I have no signal at all to monitor nor even BIOS logo screen when I turn PC on. It really does boot correctly because I can hear Windows 7 welcome sound. My previous card GTX 780 Ti is working without issue when I install it back. My specs is follows: MOBO: Gigabyte X79 UD3 with F20 BIOS which is the latest one. CPU: Intel Core i7 3930K RAM: Corsair 16GB 1600MHz Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW with Analog and DVI-D single link only - No DP or HDMI I already tried other PCI-E slots with the same result - GTX780 Ti is OK and GTX 1070 absolutely nothing. Should I RMA it? Please help. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, GeForce RTX 2080Ti, 32 GB DRAM, HOTAS TM Warthog, FSSB R3 Lighting, MFG Crosswind, Win 10 Pro
razo+r Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Correct Driver installed? What you also could try (on your own risk) delete the existing driver, put in your 1070, install driver and ... hope it works
SVgamer72 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 If nothing lights up at power on, then the card is most likely DOA (Dead on Arrival). Drivers have nothing to do with the BIOS splash screen at power on. Drivers only come into play when the OS loads. I assume you connected the power to the card when you installed it.

Oceandar Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 What is your connection to your monitor ? I have similar problem before with my GTX 960 and the culprit was GTX's DVI connector. Connected it to its HDMI and problem solved. Good luck Gam Zeh Ya'avor - King Salomon Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power. - Lao Tze

I there anyone with X79 and GTX 1070? EDIT: Another monitor with HDMI gives me the same result - no signal. jeffdude Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 BIOS settings Attempt to boot off of on-board graphics and access the bios. Once there look for a primary video setting and change it to match the slot of your card PCIe most likely. Also once in a while, newer cards will need the latest firmware running on your mobo, so check for updates from Gigabyte for your bios and follow their instructions to "flash" the bios. Gigabyte normally uses dual bios tech so that this is less risky than normal. Good luck [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

gorgar0 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I had a similar problem with my 1070. I first connected the solid 8 pin connector from the power supply and the card was DOA. Then I used the connector shown below and the card started working just fine.
joey45 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 ^^ try a different power connection. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. It should work either way, say, if you have 2 or 3 x SLI and need all of those plugs & cables. Either way, take the card and try on a 2nd PC, that will tell you what is going on ! gorgar0 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 (edited) I didn't want to go into a lot of detail in my earlier post but there are two types of 2x4 connectors on f-18hornet's power supply. The CPU and the PCIE connectors. The PCIE connector is the one I showed in my post and the one that is supposed to be connected to the GPU. Theoretically, the CPU connector shouldn't plug into the GPU card but theory doesn't take into account the quality of the connector's plastic and the enthusiasm of the gamer :) I probably forced the CPU connector into my GPU and I was thinking that f-18hornet might have done the same thing. Someone else also had the same issue http://superuser.com/questions/1000679/i-plugged-an-8-pin-eps-cpu-cable-into-the-gpus-pci-e-port-is-it-damaged Fortunately neither my card or the one in the link was damaged by this mistake. (For accuracy purposes the PCIE connecter has an optional 2x3 configuration) Edited October 20, 2016 by gorgar0

bl_asd Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Hmm...just want to clarify something with PSU. From the beginning, it's unlikely that his PSU isnt enough to boot up if it can handle a 780ti. People use unnecessary big wattage PSU for no real good reasons. It was DOA for sure. Shame, gigabyte makes good gtx 1070... Asus is great too. I use MSI 1070 myself with a 450W PSU.
