JG14_Smil Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 I just wanted to say "wow!". My first flights in the Mi-8 were very loud and scary... as a first flight in a helo should be. :) Scares the heck out of me as a cockpit builder too! What a great module. Kudos!

msalama Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Yep. The Mi-8 is indeed the coolest / best flight sim module I've ever flown anywhere, so I agree wholeheartedly. And we're even getting the manual now ;) The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
FalconPlot16 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 i was lucky i took off without opening autopilots and generators and i landed easily then got experince from other helis
BaD CrC Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Looking forward to see you on BSD for a Mi-8 mission Smil. BK is also starting to get up to speed with this beauty. Pocket Sized Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 The autopilot could not be simpler, just turn on the pitch/roll autopilot and.... that's it. It stabilizes the helo through rate dampening and attitude hold, all of which is handled automatically. Just fly as you normally would and enjoy the more predictable flying qualities :D DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule. In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

DieHard Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) I just wanted to say "wow!". My first flights in the Mi-8 were very loud and scary... as a first flight in a helo should be. :) Scares the heck out of me as a cockpit builder too! What a great module. Kudos! I fly the Ka-50 mostly, so I compare the other copters to it. The Mi-8 has some similar characteristics and in cockpit tooling but I am still feeling out the finer aspects of the flight model. Have not quite got the autopilot down, yet. But I don't use it, I fly it quite well in freehand. Working my way through the Mi-8 DCS Flight Manual. A tutorial concerning proper autopilot use. MaxDamage Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) Mi8 autopilot is super classy and sometimes even preferable to ka50 autopilot. you can literally fly helo using WSAD the only thing is that alt hold doesnt have a lot of authority and cant do rad hold. also, no route mode or hover mode the helo is SUPER GOOD and sleek. A bit difficult to land compared to the ka50. Edited November 24, 2016 by MaxDamage
