Older than 50? 60? 70? Years

Thanks to all of you for still playing despite age.

You guys have the experience and patience to teach.

I was schooled not a year ago by a Vietnam Veteran in flying the KA-50 and boy did I learn alot.

I wish I could attract my father to simming or just playing games at all, he's right in the bracket. Alas he's an old retired captain with 34 years of flying CPL at the RDAF and SAS.

Said he has seen all the damn skies he wants to for a lifetime.

Thanks again.

And I will happily fly with you guys any time I'm home, be that just a round trip or combat.

Anything with a Rotary Wing is fun and challenging.

Use SRS radio.

Encouraging!

For those that decline multiplayer I feel very sad that you've had bad experiences and would really encourage you to find groups where you can be with like-minded people, it can be intimidating for some and aggravating for others. It is possible to lock out bad influences, and its more possible to have much more fun flying with people you know and feel OK with.

It strikes me that those with the desire to, could reach out to the people that are listed here and set something up to meet just that effect, like run a group with shared aims, and if you haven't done that in seven years I'll do it. The magic of playing with other folks should never be missed just because you had a bad exerience with someone. I can tell you that idiots exist in all the age brackets and the over 50 bracket is certainly no exception, likewise, I've met remarkably mature young players in gaming that come across like their parents forged them with a hard book.

It's the thought of folks older than me that keep me going and this thread is full of awesome, as they say.

Much easier said than done. Being a busy person, I have limited and very random times when I am available to fly DCS. I get on whenever I can but it's almost never consistent. Not to mention that I am unable to commit to any particular time.

I fly when I can and enjoy the time that I have to do so. But there is little chance of being able to make arrangements to be here at any specific time.

How many of you still have your old computers?

If I still had all of my old computers, I would need a second house, or a museum to store them in. ;)

EDIT: In most cases my older machines get given to someone else. I am pretty sure the only one that I have thrown in the trash was my 1994 era 486 machine. The rest have always been rehomed either in part or as a whole. I have even bought parts over the years just to complete a machine to give to someone else.

My old Dell with XP on it went to my cellar machine shop. I play CDs and DVDs on it but don't do the Internet with it. And I have machine shop stuff on it from that era.

My Homebuilt I use as backup for troubleshooting in case my current Alienware goes down.

I have never taken any of my PCs to a shop for fixup, I always figure it out eventually, usually hitting on a lot of various forums for advice.

LOL Great thread. 58 here and got into flight sims while in the Orient playing Red Baron on an Apple II+ in the early mid 80s with a monochrome screen all wire frame graphics... Ah those were the days... not! Been with this sim since the original Flanker, through LOMAC, Flaming Cliffs, right up to the present. It's been a wonderful and exciting ride watching the slow development of the initially stated dream so many years ago... Still have all those discs, too. I'll be doing this stuff until the put me 6' under. My wife is very accepting. :)

I'm really glad to see and hear of all you guys over 50 that still enjoy flight simulators. I also see where most have flown some of the older sims. The time sure flys as the older you get...seems to me. I am waiting for 2.5 or what ever the stable build will be. Got a new computer and only want to load it with something I wont have to play computer tech.

How many of you still have your old computers? Do any of you remember

B TO B or Back to Bagdad? If you( first time I ever heard of putting in a second video card...outside of a 3DFX dual board) installed a cheap mono video card beside your evga or svga card....and a mono monitor again besides you color vga monitor and then pressed F7..woaha..you had the radar display on the mono monitor.

I thought that was the coolest thing since sliced bread. (And I remember when most bread was not sliced...and the ice man brought big blocks of ice for your Ice Box..if you were nice the ice man would chip you off a small piece of ice....and of course the coal man...stayed away from him kinda..he would joke and say he would put us down the coal shoot. I also remember the Junk man coming down the street in an old horse drawn wagon with all kinds of stuff hanging off his wagon and his horse always had a straw hat on with a flower in it.....you can blame him for my addiction to airplanes...one day he had a toy plane...and he gave it to me..cause I always brought out a carrot for his horse..man was I the king of the block with a real metal airplane....I was 4 then.

+1

We ever run out of oil we just may revert back to this way of living life.

Our old house still has a cobblestone coal bin in the cellar.
