FYI - VKB HQ has released an updated KG12 grip profile that enables the pinky switch to be a shift button........

How to Install:

1) Run VKBdevCfg, click on your device name to make it active

2) From the Action tab, click on "Load"

3) From the Action tab, click on "Set" and confirm the dialog box

4) The VKBDevCfg sofware will restart your device

5) Done! 12 programmable buttons. :)

..... :)

at step 2 I click [Load], then in the "Open" dialog box

1. I select the downloaded and extracted profile file

2. I click on the [Open] button.

The "Open" dialog box disappears and a message box pops up with "Write data fault" in the title bar and the message "!!! Unknown Error !!!!! "

End of story.

It's strange that it comes up as a WRITE data fault since at this point in time I have not tried to write (or save) anything.

I, too, had issues with this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3136206&postcount=547

Has this "Write data fault" been resolved?

I've never seen had this happen myself ... Have you tried running VKBdevCfg as admin with different results?

No it's not resolved. And running the config tool in admin mode does not make a difference. By the way, I was using v0_79_9_9.

But, no panic: I can live with the Gladiator Pro the way it is.

When all the busy stuff due to launch has died down, I'd love to hear more about the team behind the GF and the story of how it was designed and made. Amazing piece of design and engineering!

Had it for three days now and blown away a little more each day as I dial it in to my preferences. After four or so iterations, I'm running #30 + #50 springs on #30 cam on each axis with extension + TMWH grip. With a touch of damper dialled it feels phenomenal.

Can't remember my high school physics, but it feels as if combining different strength springs acts in a complimentary way over the entire range of motion (it feels nicer than using 2 x #40 or 2 x #50). Does that stand to reason or am I fooling myself?

I'm also currently using both 30 cams with my extension and WH grip, but with #20+#50 springs, and quite a bit of tension on the dampers. Thinking I want to step up to #30+#50 springs.

Are you guys using two springs per cam, or mixing springs, different #s on each cam?

never mind, re-read posts above, I'll try combining different spring strengths. The gunfighter is amazing, and getting better!

So, a little bit of fiddling around and figuring things out, and I had the stick assembled with the default KG-12-ish grip. Set it up next to my TMWH (with 20cm Sahaj extension) for comparison.

Can you compare the maximum deflection of both sticks with 20 cm extension? I'm asking, because Hotas Warthog is not really designed for such long throw and the max deflection is bigger than in a typical airplane. So I wonder if VKB gunfighter pro has the same issue.

Unfortunately, I have disassembled the TMWH and packed it away! But I could set it up again and take the measurements if you like. Though I am not planning at this time to switch out the grips, so the TMWH measurements would be on the TMWH stock base + Sahaj extension, compared to the VKB Gunfighter stock base, extension, and KG-12 grip.

Are you interested in the maximum deflection as displacement of top of grip from the center position to full foward/aft and full right/left? Angles are going to be too much of a hassle/ tricky measure ...

If you are willing to deal with fuzzy-wuzzy impressions rather than hard measurements, I will say this: at full deflection, the VKB feels like less of a throw. Significantly so, in fact. And that's a good thing! With the TMWH and extension, I always felt a full forward deflection was a bit of strain from a normal seated position: my elbow was stretched as flat as it could be, my shoulder was at its extreme, and I sometimes even had to lean forward a little. At the same time, for full left/right, I sometimes had to bend or move my leg out of the way to get the full axis. Whereas with the VKB there is no such problem! Full forward/backward and left/right without any stress or strain or shifting of position or limbs! The slight S-curve definitely helps with making the forward-backward movements even more comfortable, but even left/right is noticeably improved.

Ohhh, I am gonna have to that setup now. Currently running 2x#50 with #10 cams with a bit of damper dialed in, and it feels great. The precision near center-stick is amazing, but just a little too "floaty" for my preferences in fixed-wing flight.

However, I think 2x#50 with #10 cams might be the ultimate helo stick. Flying the mi-8 and ka-50 never felt so good!

This stick is a revelation! Well done VKB.

Sure, the displacement of top of the grip would be enough. If you could just measure the VKB displacement, I could then compare it to my TMHW with 8 cm extension, as that's what I'm mostly interested in. No need to reassemble your TMHW if you already stashed it. :)

Ok, quick and dirty gets me ~14cm from center/rest to full forward, or from center/rest to full left. KG-12 grip (and, of course, 20cm extension).

Thanks. In my Warthog with 8cm extension it's about 10 cm.

To figure out the comparison, I guess now this is where that high-school trig which they told us would be critically needed in our future comes in ...

The VKB Gunfighter is said to have the same 20º range of movement as the TMWH.

Hi guys,

thanks for all the feedback about your Gunfighter experiences so far. Appreciate all the input we're getting here.

Also, feel free to share some more pics if you like - even those taken during disassembly and while exchanging cams and springs and changing damper settings. :)

Also, any unresolved issues, questions, concerns - post here or drop me a line at northamerica@vkb-sim.pro

Thanks!

I've noticed that the 'W' cam is described as being designed to compensate for the added weight of the Warthog grip in the pitch axis, but how does it do this? Is it more of a center detent, or just thicker to provide more spring tension?

How does its detent compare to that of the #10 and #30 cams?
