Dunkirk - the movie

I think with movies like these you need to take your flight sim geek hat off. Just enjoy it for what it is. An attempt at representing what dunkirk was like without the hollywood A-list and gloss which would have detracted further from the core message.

 

Not in my list of top movies, but stlll enjoyable. I dont regret the time or money spent streaming it.

 

I agree, you need to appreciate the story, and this really happened, Hollywood likes to fluff it up of course, and if you are critical you can pick all that out.

Maybe a Stallone ala Rambo-I would have been the better pick "less words, more action" :doh::megalol:

Wow you chaps are hard to please, it was a great movie... yes the Spitfire scenes were causing my eyebrows to detach from my face at the ending however you can't let that detract from the rest of the film!

this film is gloryfying british nationalism and is utterly chauvinistic. Nolan had all the chances of making realy good film, but he rather made a visualy pleasing but crappy fake account of historical events...

The music in this film proved to be the worst Hans Zimmer creation. This contributes to general bad feeling about this movie. I am not reffering at all to planes.. I am rating the movie overall.

Apart from the glide ratio of the Spit I really liked this movie. Great movie, spectacular scenes, a lot of flying. I know, one can always criticize a historical movie, but hey, better this than Brigit Jones 3, huh? :D

And shooting down a Stuka (Ju-87) while gliding!:doh: I mean what the heck Nolan had in his mind doing such a scene? I love his (other) films, he is one of my favorite directors, therfore it makes me angry.

I thought the sounds (the way it groaned and creaked as he loaded the engine/airframe) of the spitfire as it maneuvered was quite novel. Not heard that before. I also like how the dogfights were for the most part non dramatised.
