Oficial statemanet about releasing for 2.1 pls. Zeus pls comment!

Great, haven´t updated open Beta since 1.5.0 or so, it´s going to take three days. If I had known I would´ve updated it to the latest version earlier today. :doh::smilewink:

Okay folks. ED always releases new mods in 1.5.x because it is aware that many people do not have the paid maps like Nevada and Normandy.

 

If the schedule keeps its normal rate, then Open Alpha will be updated next week.

Because Razbam itself has officially stated in earlier posts (I dont remember if it was here or on FB) that the Harrier would be available for the Nevada Map as well.

1. Nope, they haven't. They said that it will work with both. That means you'll get it for both sooner or later. They never had clearly said, until now on which specific version it'll be initially released on.

So to say a bit of a guild is on both sides - devs not clearly communicating and people over interpreting what was written "it'll work" as "it'll be first released"

2. If you had been following the Harrier thread and you see the same discussion. At some point it arrived to rather a clear statement that the first release will be on 1.5.8

Just download / install 1.5.8 Beta and enjoy your new Harrier. It will come to Nevada soon too, don't you worry.

 

Also, this shows again that the need for speed...I mean DCS 2.5 is needed badly to not confuse any more people / drown those false hopes before they even can emerge from the deep blue sea :pilotfly:

There will probably an ongoing 2.5 beta once 2.5 is released, so it's pretty much the same situation. :)

Ok great i have it now but can't fly it due to no tutorials or an missions. Been looking on the forum on where to find them.
There are some instant action missions available like other aircraft, i wouldn't expect any actual missions for a couple of days. Give people a chance to make them.

 

As for tutorials, it was stated they would not be included as this is the early access. It shouldnt take anything away from learning the aircraft yourself, just start with the basics of flight handling/flying circuits/takeoff/landing and work up using the pocket guide for information.

Yeah - they missed the "in open beta" bit when they said it would be released today. Usual stuff.

Wait, wait, wait.....I paid for early access. Is this not the day it is released? I'm confused...I still have 1.5.7 and updater will not update to next build.

^ Do you have 1.5.7 stable, or 1.5.7 Open Beta installed on your machine? Because only the latter one gets the update with Harrier today (keep in mind one can be converted into the other easily, no need to create a second copy of the game).

i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

You don't have to. Just update your current 1.5 stable to the beta. I just did it this morning, and don't regret it at all. It took maybe 30 minutes to do, and all of my settings are still the same.

Yes, thank you, Max_Rogue. I've been trying to update all day long, it's almost the 30th in Spain, and no update. I didn't know there was an open beta branch, and that it was going to be released there.

Quite confusing tbh.

Should be a week or two after the initial release. At lest that's how it was with previous modules.

Ah, much obliged, thank you. I've been avoiding having a third DCS install in anticipation of the great 2.5 merge (which would make it 4 installs, even though I guess the others could then be deleted, but that's assuming 2.5 works ok on release).

I've been consumed by Project CARS2 for the last couple of months, so haven't been following DCS in as much detail, but my lovely wife has bought me the Harrier for Christmas so I guess I can wait a week or two.

Plenty of YouTube stuff to watch in the meantime.
