Kroll Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) I love, love the new sounds. The Harrier and now the Hornet have raised the bar on the sound. Great job! Wags I was hoping you were going to "honk" on the jet at the end of the runway. I'm curious if in a future video you can explore the flight envelope? Also, will there be buffeting and the distinct sound associated with that. Has the wing condensation been perfected? This module is looking great! Edited December 20, 2017 by Kroll
rweaves6 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) I agree it looks great. In fact, the attention to detail is astounding, many corners could have been cut that would have still satisfied 95% of us and yet they seem to sticking to their goal of highly realistic modeling of the systems. The startup sure seems pretty simple compared to some other aircraft, I was surprised by that. Surely this release can't be long now. I've held out from buying any of the kids Christmas presents to save money for the likely event that this is released pre Christmas. Just kidding but wouldn't it be nice if us dads (and moms) received a Christmas present this year? *Edit* Do we know that the F18 will be released with DCS 2.5? If so I guess we won't see it this year.. :( On the flip side I guess the kids will receive presents this year :) Edited December 20, 2017 by rweaves6 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Precog Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I will be watching this a few times I reckon! Couple of questions...how do you hold down the FCS reset button with the mouse and click the other button (FCS bit test I think it was) at the same time? Also, what does sv1 and sv2 refer to on the FCS page? Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mad_Max2 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Do we know that the F18 will be released with DCS 2.5? If so I guess we won't see it this year.. :( The last thing I saw regarding this, and I believe it was from Wags, was that the Hornet will be coming after 2.5, which is coming in late January. How much after? I don't know. It will eventually come though my friend, hang in there.

RhineHornet Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Also, what does sv1 and sv2 refer to on the FCS page? From the F/A-18 A/B/C/D manual: page 124 - 2.8.2.7 Flight Control Computers (FCC). For survivability, one channel from each computer is routed through the upper part of the aircraft and the other channel is routed through the lower part. The stabilator and trailing edge flap servos receive four channel signals from the FCC. The aileron, rudder, and leading edge flap servos receive two channel signals I believe SV1 and SV2 stands for "SERVO VALVES" or simply "SERVO"(1 and 2) respectively? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

(cant understand (parse) last worlds of this sentenсe). I just translate all parts of this video, except this 2 moments. thnx. I'm not sure I totally under stand all of your question. Your correct though. When aircraft sit overnight they can get wing droop. Meaning the control surfaces (flaps, leading edge devices) may droop out of the selected position. This is do to hydraulics bleeding down over time. The XXXX means the aircraft is sensing something not right with that system. NIPS ( not in position selected) lights. It's something as a pilot you need to think about when you turn hydraulics on. Ramp personal could get injured or even killed ( wheel well doors) when hydraulics are brought online. Hope that explains it.
capthaltli Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Great video and definitely has me stoked to the EA release. The attention to detail is what we pay for so thanks WAGs and team. I noticed while taxing out to the runway the LDDI was on the checklist page and showed the Stab trim setting as 12 NU left stab and 11 NU right stab, while the RDDI was on the FCS page and showed the stab trim set at 12 NU for both left and right. Is this a small descrpency that exists on these pages in the real jet or an artifact of Early Access? Curious because I know you all do a great job modeling these little things to give a realistic touch. Glad to see I can set the seat harness, hopefully I don’t forget to set it and fly forward after a trap [sIGPIC] "GOONIE" [/sIGPIC] "GOONIE" CSG-1 VFA-25

xjiks Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 At first I wanted to wait for the full release of the hornet, but now I'm throwing money at my screen! I want the early access version !! L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] if you read this you are too curious

sideshow Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) Very impressed with the detail. Right down to cycling the bleeds to reset the bleed air valves. Even have the sound of air rushing through the cockpit after. very nice. In the real jet I never tried cycling the battery to test the second fire loop, just waited a few seconds. Awesome job, brought back tons of good memories! Edited December 22, 2017 by sideshow
JarheadEd Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I never cycled the battery either, and Betty always answered right away when I went to circuit B. But then again, I always stared at the fire warning lights real hard to see if there was failure.
Vinny002 Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Very good DCS F/A-18 video!! Thanks for sharing!! Cheers, Vincent
