Basco1 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Excellent heclack,I am so looking forward to the new update, you guys have created a real beauty with your A-4E-C Just one question from me,I know we have a refinement of A-4E at present, being that it has the F model avionics dome fitted, but is there any plans for future models to be included, like a pure A-4E model etc, minus the avionics dome etc ?.......would be nice to have as an alternative,if at all possible. Hi Basco, I'm sorry but I won't be able to answer that question. As I am just a recent contributor to the project and I've only started DCS modding recently, I can't and will not able to speak on the behalf of the fantastic original dev team who did all the hard work over the years. The project will still remain theirs and your question can and should only be answered by them. The future direction of the project is theirs to decide. I could answer the weapons system question because I am personally contributing my code on the weapon system to the project. Maybe someone like @Merker would be able to answer your question. Basco1 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Yes of course heclak......sorry.....and your contribution is very welcomed Sir,your A4E guide has also, may I say has been very useful over the past few weeks for me Chillblast Fusion Cirrus 2 FS Pc/Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake CPU/Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1070 G1 8GB/Seagate 2TB FireCuda SSHD/16GB DDR4 2133MHz Memory/Asus STRIX Z270F Gaming Motherboard/Corsair Hydro Series H80i GT Liquid Cooler/TM Warthog with MFG 10cm Extension/ Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals/TrackiR5/Windows 11 Home
Nero.ger Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 how about ironing out the issues and small kinks in the current plane first , yes :-D 'controlling' the Ka50 feels like a discussion with the Autopilot and trim system about the flight direction.

You may want to have a look at post #2 here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=173162 Question 2 in the FAQs was answered there: "We are modeling a late A-4E with the avionics hump. We have no plans to offer an A-4A/B/C/F or non-humped E." :book: I know that has been stated in 2016, but it was stated by one of the developers. And as everything in DCS - it may be subject to change. :D Edited January 25, 2019 by norbot

dpeters95 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Hello all and a big THANK YOU to the developers of this fantastic mod! I do have a small problem and I wanted to see if I was alone or not. Or, if anyone could help me out. When I fly, the plane constantly noses down. I have to keep some back pressure on the stick all the time to fly level. I tried to trim it out but no luck. I use the joystick with my other DCS planes without problem so I don't think it's the stick. Feedback would be greatly appreciated! TIA...
PetRock Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Like most other things, it’s on the wish list but the CP-741 isn’t actively worked on right now. I’m just finishing up on, what seems to me, a fairly significant rework of the weapons system to bring up the fidelity of the it. So the weapons system is definitely getting some love. I am still looking at which component to tackle as my next big project. I do hope to get the LABS system, which includes the CP-741/A, working. But like all the systems everyone has been contributing, we will keep trying until we find out something is not possible due to the lack of access to the SDK. So there is no way of confirming if the LABS CP-741/A is possible till we’ve tried and find out at the same time as you. That is really amazing. Good luck! I know I was only able to find a few sources last night online about the 741 and none of it specific on how it worked or was set up. You guys are doing really outstanding work and your mod has got at least 4 of my friends into the game and we are now working up the green guys to easy SEAD missions before we do fully unknown self made missions. I also took the plunge into editing LUAs since we are running a Planes and Mercs group and need a few more options than the stock A-4 mod - something I thought I would never do. Keep up the good work!

I can trim the pitch easily with the trim-hat of my stick. On longer distances I'm using the auto-pilot to fly level, so I can't complain about it.

Hmmm, well if you don't see the problem, I guess I will have to play around with it some more... ***********EDIT************* I just found the problem. I also have a driving wheel on my system and I didn't notice before that DCS assigned the axis commands to my wheel and my joystick when I installed the F-4E. I just removed the wheel assignments and presto, problem fixed! Thanks for your feedback. It made me double check the key assignments! Edited January 25, 2019 by dpeters95
norbot Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 You're welcome. DCS has the bad habit of assigning the same function to more than one controller, if you add any other input device.
heclak Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Looking into the damage model now. Can those who have notice problems with it please let me know what were the situations you having problems with? I’m looking to build a list of situations to test the model with. So far I had no problems with a single hit from a SA-10 taking me out. Also fine with taking out an AI A-4 with a few gun rounds into the back of the engine. TheCamper Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Hello, would you like to know if we can wait for the radio system and in-flight refueling and buddy refueling in some update or we simply will not have? [DCS: F-5E BRASIL] [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
oldpop Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 have not been damaged by SA10' or any A2A missiles! will sent track Monday!
heclak Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Hello, would you like to know if we can wait for the radio system and in-flight refueling and buddy refueling in some update or we simply will not have? Unfortunately radios are simply not possible at the moment in fully custom mods like the A-4E-C. Some mods are using FC3 avionics but this module is fully custom written systems. I’ve spent quite some time trying to find a way to get it to work with no success. I will revisit it occasionally to see if things changes. Ask for refuelling, that requires functioning radios. So due to the reasons above. That will not be possible as well. Sorry to disappoint. Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 This mod looks great . I downloaded it and went to install it. I use release version but i have in saved games folder : DCS DCS Warthog DCS.openalpha DCS.openbeta DCS_AJS37 So I assume my release version uses the DCS/mods/aircraft structure. But when I do that the A4E does not show up on front menu. I tried putting it in Open Alpha and it now shows up when I start release version...but crashes when loading. I did get it to work in quick mission but every other mission i tried hangs on loading. It is strange that my release version of DCS uses the open alpha saved game folders ... anyone else notice the same thing or having the same problems. Any suggestions?

I think ED has been reorganising the way they used the saved game folders over time and maybe your install is just on legacy config. I have a recently installed copy of the OpenBeta and my Saved Games only has a DCS folder. No open beta. If you want to upload your dcs.log, I can look into it and see if it’s an A-4 related crash. Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Thanks for the replay heclak. I looked for logs and found no crash logs for today in any of the version save folders... I does look like my "release install" has been using open alpha save folder for many months... weird.
CarbonFox Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Out of curiosity, was the A-4E ever re-engined with the P-408 like the A-4F or did they just stick with the P-8 engine? F/A-18C; A-10C; F-14B; Mirage 2000C; A-4E; F-16C; Flaming Cliffs 3
