You know how you earn bonus points now correct? From purchases? Well we are looking at ways, through dedicated servers to offer community events and even our own events to have more ways to earn these type of points. I cant go into it more, once everything is finalized, more info will be released.
Will these events be available across all timezones ?

Playing an arcade shooter type of thing to be able to spend money on the ‘hardcore’ version???

Hmmm....

If MAC Will Be an enhanced fc3 I can't call It arcade. Clickable modules are great and I love them, but to Be really proficient with them you have to focus on Just one module at a time. With fc3/Mac you'll have the chance to try different airframes with advanced Flight models without the need to dive deeply in switchology and systems. I see MAC as a modern il-2 style simulator, and you Can Say il-2 Is a simulator even without complex systems and avionics. My only concern Is the ability to control Planes by mouse and the auto-trim, but even now there Is a "game mode" even for the most advanced clickable modules. Ok, I firmly believe noone in this forum uses game mode, but It Is there. Maybe each server could set the rules for online gaming. And I think Mac, set without simpler helps in the "simulation mode", could be a good evolution of fc3. Imagined in that way I think Mac can't ruin dcs experience and Can Be a good intro for new players and / or a slightly more relaxed experience for more skilled players if you just want some Quick fun without switchology but in an environment you can keep calling a simulator. Of course I Can Be wrong, but this Is what I Hope for Mac.

I am sure there will be events available for all different areas and times, some could be ED run, some could be community run. But this is all for disucssion as we get more info released.

Well, i've purchased the PCPIlot magazine to read Mr Wag's interview , so MAC will be a standalone game with 4 maps which are cut/past area of current maps, specifiaclly designed to be played also withouth Joystick and throttle.

How do they want to connect it with DCS then? What about MP - MAC vs DCS?

I understand that with smaller maps it can perform better or just allow lower spec systems to run it decently.

Hi, as per Matt's interview MAC will not be connected with DCS, DCS world and MAC will be 2 different games running under (SOS ) Simulation Operating System, basically MAC will be a standalone product which uses same game engine but more arcade.

New keyboard system will be designed fro those lacking joystick and throttle so MAC can be played with mouse and keyboard :)

Ha.. thats exactly what i thought when reading the latest hints about MAC...that is would be a standalone thing seperate from our DCS world install. And if this is indeed the case,...i am not bothered a bit at all. Actually, i kinda like this considering ED wants to try a bit more social media stuff there in the first place. It is a very fine line one needs to walk when trying out new income generating mechanisms. Only the future can tell how ED will tweak, change and adapt their business model. I just hope ED keeps all time micro transaction, lootbox and time limited cosmetic stuff far away from DCS world. A fair amout for a fair value is the way to go, not skins or other mini things for top dollar. And i think ED knows very well how easily a dev can destroy that small hardcore sim market by going flat mainstream. Thus, making MAC a seperate thing, is probably a good idea. As long as they only adapt and trasnfer stuff to DCS world what really fits.

Kinda big news for such hidden info, considering it was advertised as a module for DCS. (you may want to edit description under mac trailer :P) I hoped for something like FC4, still interested but need more info or simply see it in action

I hope it can be both standalone as well as intergrated with FC3 !

Hi,

Big news indeed !!!

I, personally, never really 'outgrew' LOMAC, FC 1=>3, but bought most advanced /study modules anyway because they are so nice looking planes and helos (if only to fly around in).

I sure hope MAC will somehow be(come) a part of DCS World.

The announced new UI and mission generator would surely be truly welcome in DCS (for us anyway).

Looking forward to MAC ... whatever it turns out to be.

Regards.

Thanks ED !

FWIW.

DCS can be many things.

We (family) fly Co-op with own 'easy' custom missions (and, better still, adapted some bought DCS campaigns and user missions).

Mission Editor is awesome and it (a.o.) makes DCS a unique title.

BTW. No reason to drop into ... and spoil ... other people's (more advanced pilots) MP-war scenarios !

This is very interesting. I must say that I'm looking forward to how it will pan out.

Coming from the same spot as many will in this case, the most problematic part of getting into DCS and what puts a lot of "mainstream" players off, is the crudeness of the first experience. The first setup is just too much for regular players. There are no basic controller or joystick presets which is the worst part, axis assignments all over the place, cross assigned buttons from several devices etc. The first experience is bad for spoiled gamers like I was once too.

Edit: Also considering adding a tutorial "Teach me the absolute basic of how to DCS" should be considered. Explaining what are the general shortcuts for basic controls, how flying works, how radios should be used, basic taxiing logic ... etc. You should know that new players do not read manuals much... also its a hell of a struggle to find a manual for DCS, they are very well hidden. They should be accessible from the main menu and from inside of the airplanes too.

Do, or do not, there is no try.

Don't mix

Please ED don't mix your arcade game MAC with DCS WORLD, make twoo different games !

Most of the peoples I know play DCS WORLD for hardsim immersion, if DCS be coming a game for arcade player, we leave this game..

Because it's going to ruin the multiplayer, I've already seen that in another game, it'll be a big mistake

@Satarosa.

I understand and agree with what you write.

But OTOH if ED makes DCS into 2 seperate games ... ONE HARDCORE and ONE "Warthunder-like" with grinding-until-paid I personally believe that second, more Arcadish-style game, may get the most attention since ... it may get ED more income !?

I really like DCS World the way it is now ... FC (MAC?) included in DCS World.

I hope they won't change a winning team :-)

It won't be much different than current FC3 planes flying alongside full fidelity modules. And everyone can control their own servers and missions as well, and limit what aircraft, etc can join.

but right now we only have 1 dcs world installation, where the FC3 "pack" can be considered as a single module integrated into dcs world...with MAC this sounds different, and up until now or until I know more about how that is going to work out, i agree with both the guys who think it could be a good thing, but also with the guys who look at this product with scepticism.

from your post it almost sounds as if the dcs world players will be able to join MAC servers but not the other way round?

You don't see the problems ?!

Ex:

If you play MiG-21bis with the harcore sim vesion, you have to manage your motor and click many swich to change weapons mod, missiles mod for fight, and fly with joystick..

VS

A MiG-21bis arcade version just move the mouse on the target and fire !

No mach the arcade version win!

I did competition pvp in War Thunder sim mod in hight lvl, and I can tell you, for joystick Vs Mouse, the mouse is the winner! Because play with mouse give you soo much accuracy for shooting, than any joysick!

Without wishing to be mean

Very seriously you really think that arcade player will come on DCS for MAC?

While there is Wor*d of Warpla*e, Wa* Thund*r arcade mod and Ac* C*mbat 7!

In the video game industry who know MAC appart the DCS players?

Personally I find this an error of going to the arcade, people do not come on DCS for that!

FC4 with 4 new planes that's a great idee (MiG-31, F-16A, Su-30, Tornado..). People from DCS WOLRD will buy for that

Cordially
