This has happened a few times now, the first was a simple tanker mission and the second was a simple landing mission

Tanker mission had me miles away from the tanker despite flying in formation for over 1/2 an hour

Landing mission was a case 1 recovery on land, the track showed me flying straight into a tree

The map is the Caucasus

Track files are 90% useless - replay does not work correctly

Hello ED, Hello Community,

i noticed since i play dcs world the Replay function is very buggy. Its a main feature that is not working correctly for a long time. Is there any way we can see an improvement over the next year?

Examples:

- if you launch a f18 of the carrier it shortly crashes into the water after a time.

- if you play a long time the track is way off

- if you fly with the f14 it does really funny things. Missles not launching, crashing into the ground etc

- sometimes you defeated a missile but when you watch the track you get hit by that missile.

there is a lot more. it would be great if there would be some improvement in the near future.

lol! welcome to the party buddy! It's been this way as long as I've been playing, and from what I've seen, it was like this long before. It's not a true replay in a sense...Its almost as if the game is trying to simulate what you (and everything else) did in real time. This allows you to change the camera around and what not, but leads to errors a lot. If it was a pure recording/replay then you'd be stuck with whatever camera view you had set.

This is just what I've observed...I could be wrong. I have not seen an official response to this issue... Which is odd because I've seen multiple threads saying just this over the years. Idk... Sure makes trying to record videos a real treat.

It is exactly what you did when you flew the mission, it's also why you can take control of a reply at any time. SO basically asking the AI to, based on your inputs, mimic your entire flight, so of course, the more complex the track is can affect the ability to playback, especially for things that can be more random.

Also any version change, and you can almost guarantee the previous version tracks are no good. Fast forwarding and changing views a lot can cause issues.

I placed a Tomcat at nellis, took off climbed to 6000 and leveled off.

Replayed the track:

Tomcat takes off, nose dives into the ground and cartwheels to a stop.

Play it a second time:

Tomcat takes off, climbs to 15,000 ft, then nose dives, track ends mid decent.

These are not complex files. Any insight into this?

So the key to all this is the AI's ability to replicate what you did. Hmm.... Hopefully the AI improvements ED has been working on will improve replays.

But then there's stuff like this that sounds like more than AI problems

What your aircraft does is generated by the recording and reading of your control inputs. The AI isn't involved. Any AI are following their own routines. And, as long as nothing is randomized, they will do what they did as long as the virtual you is doing what you did.

But then there's stuff like this that sounds like more than AI problems

Sounds more like issues with how DCS World and the Tomcat are interfacing.

For whatever reason, most times on release new module tracks have issues like this, I remember the Yak-52 was the same for many. Now the F-14 has other issues right now that might contribute to this, or the complexity of the module itself might be doing them in, its probably best to report it to Heatblur and give them a chance to look at it or work at it with ED.

Thats odd because none of my tracks across a number of planes have ever worked for me

Missing the run way by miles, flying off course by miles or landing in the sea

Harrier too.

Last time replay funktion worked for me was in November. Now if I watch them again, my plane crashes into a buildings, misses runways etc.

its broke........................... which is a shame with the new carrier mod coming out is there any reason to buy it as you wont be able to watch your landings

oddly the track of an Fa18 case 1 recovery worked for the very first time last night - thanks for that Ed

#86967 - Track Playback getting out of SYNC

Hi,

This is regarding the Latest Open Beta Version as of May 18th, 2019.

The previously old known bug is back with track files "*.trk". Which is when you use time compression (RCtrl+Z) to skip forward to an event and then play at normal time (RShift+Z) it messes up and just make the aircraft's sensors and flight controls out of sync.

Just use time compression until the heli takes off and see for yourself when it attacks the ship. The sensors, even the when rockets are fired and the heli crashed into the tree were in reality I flew over the trees took enemy AAA shells damage and made back to the base safely.

I have attached the original track file and include the track file video link capture below for your review.

Video Link:

Looking forward to see this track file bug resovled soon so we "Pilots" of DCS make nice Actionized Youtube videos again! :)

Because the track file is 14mb and could not be attached please download it from this wetransfer link below:

Best Regards,

Pakster.

Yes. Even without time compression during a single basic traffic pattern the replay can easily show a different track than actually flown.

Sometimes the plane even crashes already during take off in the replay!

This problem exists since decades.
