Figured out what the problem is but I'm not sure how it happened.

 

Looks like the "windowPosition" parameter in the ScratchpadConfig.Lua was out of whack. I put the coordinates to x=0,y=0 and I could see the window next time I started up.

 

The lua is in:

 

C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config

Is there a way to copy or capture the screen text from the tower [top left corner of viewer] and place it in the scratchpad?

I find sometimes I can't remember all the info that gets scrolled across the top of the screen/rift when calling inbound for example.

Not sure if you'd be interested but you can use VoiceAttack to either transcribe hands free into ScratchPad or have an audio playback of the info you dictated. See post #50 in this thread.

Thanks but I'm not a fan of voice command programs.

BTW, talking about voice command, it seems when on this site as well as when I'm flying I sometimes hear a voice narrator talking to me.

I can't seem to be able to enter text in VR. I can pull it up with ctrl-shift-X, but its not the "focus" I.e. I can't input anything.

You click in the box and start typing. Or you can use Voice Attack and dictate what should be transcribed into the box.

Sorry to labour the point, but is the input only by the physical keyboard? If so, I don’t see any advantage in VR as, unless you are a touch typist, the HMD will still have to be removed to input any data.

Now, if it was via a virtual, on screen keyboard, that would be great.

I am using voice activated , works well for me.

 

I say "scratch pad", the box pops up, and I dictate my desired inputs.
