Even such basic tasking fails miserably, it was sad to watch and left me shaking my head.

Unfortunately, I had a similar experience when I was trying to play a mission in Operation Liberation. Extremely immersion-breaking.

Apart from that, I found out that instead of trying to bomb an enemy airfield, all I had to do was to set my ground forces to "aggressive" and tanks overran the airfield in a few hours. I was also witness to some very unrealistic "tank combat". IMHO, DCS AI is the first thing that should be fixed/improved, it would make the already available campaigns much more realistic and enjoyable.

In my opinion, creating a dynamic campaign for each of the scenarios should be a priority. Right now we have a lot of nice maps and a lot of planes to fly but with little incentive. The canned campaigns created for each plane at 10€ each are not an option, they offer little play. If it weren't for the community creating "dynamic" campaigns or missions, DCS would have little interest. In addition, the effort made by the editors of each squadron to bring these maps to life. A lot of art in these maps, but little incentive to create something that is similar to something that a simulator, if not to say its name here, has implemented for years, and that makes it attractive and addictive, from the multiplayer point of view as well as the single player. I hope that ED takes this point into account and puts all its efforts into creating a dynamic campaign soon, it will surely change everything within the world of DCS when that day comes.

Having empty maps full of nice effects is not addictive if there is not much to do with them. This is my humble opinion. If DCS and ED focused on creating a dynamic campaign or different dynamic campaigns, they would win the hearts of all fans of this simulator.

Dynamic campaigns have been talked about for so many years that I'm starting to think it's a myth.

ED talk to us 6 years ago and look what we have at the present day...

The priority is to sell more planes and maps...

you know it is in progress and we will share news when we are ready to. We have a team dedicated to it.

I dont think some of you appreciate how complex this project is. Its going to take time.

you will need to continue to be patient.

thank you

As always, thank you for chiming in, BN! I (and likely many who frequent this forum) do not really know if "it" is in progress. We do not know what progress, if any, was made in the past 5 years on "it". What many may recall is that you and your kind colleagues have - on occasion - asserted (without elaboration) that you are working on something that you at ED call "dynamic campaign". We have no way of knowing nor guessing what that comprises of: scope, maturity, preconditions, timeline, goals. Absent any guidance I (and probably others) that have, I assume "it" to be something similar to something that exists in a different title that focuses on an iconic fighter aircraft that shall not be named here.

Agreed. How could we if we don't know what the scope of "this project" is? Come to think of it, it seems that neither have you (ED) correctly appreciated the complexity, or we wouldn't have NL be on the record that it "wouldn't take 5 years" (meaning: NL thought it would take LESS than 5 years to initial release) - more than 5 years ago. This is not to badmouth you, NL or any of your colleagues. This kind of misjudgments happen all the time in project management (I headed a project that was 3 years late on an initial 1 year timeline). I merely think it highly inopportune to remark how little we, your trusting customers, know -- when all that we can go on is your (ED's) communication on this subject, which, I think, has had a lot of room for improvement.

May I suggest that ED improve on that? I'm not looking for particulars, but a roadmap that identifies the major milestones along the way would help a lot. For example, it seems prudent for me to guess that some milestones along the way to a DC are: 1) better ATC, 2) (unless ED is going the "Liberation Campaign" way of merely saving mission results) save/reload mission, 3) better unit AI (ground, naval, air), 4) improved cargo/supplies handling, 5) 'theater-commanding AI'. Some of these milestones could even arrive separately, and if we know how these pieces fit together, we could not only have a better way to gauge progress, we could cheer you on your way to completion. Right now, just like you stated, we don't know, and we do not know how complex the project is. Because nobody who is in the know has ever told us.

Understood. Wilco. After some 10 years I hope that you understand and appreciate just how patient some of already are. And (like I) still support ED in their endeavor to bring something vaguely resembling what people dream of when I hear the words "dynamic campaign". I often wish that we had something more concrete to go by. Saying "be patient" is fine, and after a decade, be advised that it also corrodes trust.

So, here's to hoping that you (ED) can share some eagerly awaited details and help restore faith in the upcoming dynamic campaign - whatever that may be.

I understand the frustration, and I know for some being positive here on the forums or on reddit can be a struggle. Again all I can say for now is the work is in progress and we will share more news when we are ready.

thank you for the feedback.

As said, it's about being a little more transparent with some specifics on the progress esp with long time customers. We already know it's a monumental task because we can see there are so many modules/maps/EAs, AI issues, bugs to fix and hardware demands. I think we are prepared to hear the challenges faced, even the lack of progress. But alas, it's probably a management decision not to open this can of worms at this stage and deal with the myriad of follow-up questions and feedback. 😀

So much that they burried that Q&A from 15 months ago very, very deep lol.

But I heard the answers are coming soon. Maybe for the new year? Right?

Without specifics from ED, it's all speculation. I think if progress on the DC was really good, they would have been eager to share some updates. So...

Are those map images in the 2025 and Beyond video a hint at the Dynamic Campaign? 🤔
