Not that I know of … I tested for them the last time the MiG-19 got an update (a couple of months ago, mid November if i recall correctly), but found no additional keybindings, nor any of the issues that I reported more than 6 months ago have been fixed :( it's a pity.

Been away from the game for a while now - but getting back in the air slowly. Nice to see MiG-19 had some updates since the launch to the buttons, but it seems there are still some keybindings missing.

I'm still re-learning the basics but the ones missing that I've noticed so far:

Left Engine Start

Right Engine Start

Left Engine Air Start ON

Left Engine Air Start OFF

Right Engine Air Start ON

Right Engine Air Start OFF

A-10C Warthog | AJS-37 Viggen | F-5E Tiger II | Mig-15bis | MiG-19P Farmer

Just started flying this module. Went through the cold start lesson and found out the following:

+everything that rainyda just wrote about:

Left Engine Start

Right Engine Start

Left Engine Air Start ON

+ Keybinds are also missing for AChS-1 chronograph (see screenshot of the L-39 keybinds for an illustration)

+ There is no light for fuel tank #2 (left side console) (see screenshot #2)

... just kicked the MiG-21 from my cart for ... not having proper controls logic in 2020 in a game where a lot have HOTAS with 2/3-way switches and multi-pos knobs or even full blown pits simply is a no-go.

a lot of users having full blown pits? or 2/3 way switches on their HOTAS? ... I own a TM Cougar and it has just a single 3 way switch, honestly it doesn't seem to me like an important enough reason to miss on the wonderful aircraft that is the MiG-21.

The MiG-19 bothers me a lot more (than the -21), as it is really hard (in fact, impossible) to program the HOTAS to handle the gunsight and the navigation radio properly.

Most of the MiG-21 switches can be made proper with minor LUA edits. But the MiG-19 doesn't even have anything to edit. Too many switches missing from the controls mapping list.

I can't believe that some of the basic functions of the aircraft do not have a  keybind (e.g., course selector knob)....very annoying.

The Course selector still has no keybind? .. I reported that 4 years ago:

what a sad situation, I had promised to myself to never buy something from Razbam again, but of course I couldn’t refuse the South Atlantic Map, which I purchased as soon as it appeared, as it’s the only Map where part of my home country is represented.  The MiG-19 is actually one of the very few DCS modules that I regret purchasing.

Found this thread while trying to find a mapping for the course selector knob.  Adding some of these frequently asked for bindings would really be appreciated.

Four years have passed by, so I doubt your wish will be ever granted … this is the reason why I stopped flying the 19, and explains why I have not yet pre-purchased the F-15E 😑

Waiting to see how the F-15E turns out too.  I'm not expecting anything to be done on the 19 before they get the F15 out the door.  Would love to see the 19 get turned around like the M2000 was.

In the meantime, I'm using Munkwolf's keybinds to get some of the inputs I want (like keyboard bindings for GIK-1 Compass Course needle).

Basic stuff like this still non-existent.   Bugs which make it difficult to figure out whats' going on (am I doing this wrong, or is the radio just borked like the other things in this module?). Campaign updates/fixes? Zero meaningful interaction from the developer.

It would be a joke, if I hadn't paid for it.

After going thru all the MiG-19 cockpit controls - I would like to offer one piece of advice to ALL module developers:

Please make the TOOLTIP NAME the same as the control is listed in the CONTROL OPTIONS! :helpsmilie:

Not a Razbam 'sin' really, it's the same with many modules. But it would only make sense -want to do a keybinding? Check the name with tooltip, find the same name in the control options - done! Sometimes there's only slight difference like 'Radio Navigation Electric Power' is 'Nav Radio Power' - but sometimes they are actually pretty hard to find and have to do some trial & error. Why not the same? It only makes sense! 🙂 Okay, rant off - lets get down to business! 😄

OTHER MISSING CONTROLS

I just don't have enough experience on the plane yet to sort these to important/not-so-important. In general, in a perfect world, push button should be ON/OFF in the control options, toggle switch/rotary switch should offer separate ON and OFF options in addition to ON/OFF and possible CW&CCW (mimicing the real thing and offering all the possibilities for controls). Bump. I came across the flap settings again today and was wondering why in the world the MiG-19 was lacking a incremental "up" and "down" keybind for flaps.

So, how good are our chances that we will see continuing support for the MiG-19?!

@OverStratos

With the currently unknown status of the RBvED dispute, anyone's guess is as good as mine. Full-fidelity F-15C implies, for many, F-15E is on the side-track for some time if not for good... But back to the topic.

I'm just experimenting with MiG-19, I wanted to compare it with MiG-21. I somewhat enjoy both of them, but I have a mental block when controls are missing - and the block is proportional to the number of controls missing.

I learned about Quaggle's Command Injector (thanks to Rudel_chw) and it's part of my workflow now, so it took me just about an hour to get the stuff I normally always use with the keyboard (Barometric altimeter setting, course, etc.). All these settings are already possible; they are just not made available. Community figured it out already: https://github.com/Munkwolf/dcs-community-keybinds/blob/main/InputCommands/MiG-19P/Input/MiG-19P/keyboard/default.lua

Now there are two levels, as I see it:

  1. Not adding these things into the default configs (hence forcing us to use mods, or worse, "mod" it ourselves) is kinda a no-brainer. RAZBAM could have done it anytime, with no effort at all. Could it accidentally introduce some bug (in new bindings only, mind you)? Possibly. But that's a risk anyone here would gladly take. Bugs is the name of the game already. 😉
  2. The harder part is to provide really new bindings. If the switch gives me ON and OFF bindings, I have no idea whether I can mod it somehow to work as a trigger. (I haven't found that yet.) You can add "ON else OFF" and similar stuff, that's possible, but toggle? Now.
The same for 3-pos or more switches and other controls. If there are just concrete position bindings, I have no idea how to add go/cycle up/down. And the other way around - if there are only toggles and up/down/cycle commands, I believe there is no way to transform them into concrete controls.
I'm not talking about a situation when the dev provides only up/down/cycle stuff, but the commands for precise positions are there and you can add them (scenario 1). I'm talking about the situation when the only available command is toggle, for instance. Command for concrete settings with values is simply not available.

I may be wrong about all the details in the second point because DCS is complex. Also, some of the older modules have very different scripting styles compared to newer modules - which makes it more difficult.

But the whole idea of "clickable-only cockpit" (hyperbole, of course) - when you MUST click, not just CAN click - without any binds whatsoever for some elements... that is very frustrating in any module. Why are virtually half of the modules insufficient in this area, I have no idea.

Providing controls for existing elements should be one of the easiest parts when developing the module. It could even be generated from a good authoritative source of truth - which would also help avoiding situations when the tooltip says something completely different than the binding, etc.
