It is interesting when people ask this kind of question, as inevitably you will get very diffierent opinions. In the end, you just have to try it for yourself.

FWIW, my opinion is very different from Notso's. My 2 big beefs with the Reverb are firstly the difficulty in getting tracking synced when there is no daylight, and secondly, the horribly thick, stiff cable.

I have no issues with the audio at all. Perfectly suitable for purpose, and the last thing I want is to strap on more plastic onto my head in the form of external headphones.

I have owned CV1, Vive Pro and Valve Index and overall, I prefer the Reverb, mainly for clarity and resolution.

I'm surprised that Notso says he can't see much difference between the Vive Pro OLED colours and the Reverb's. IMO, there is a big difference there. Much more saturation, deeper blacks and depth in the VP. But, again, it's worth the compromise.

And, my advice is don't wait for Reverb G2. Who knows when/if that will see the light of day.

So, lots of different opinions!

Haha, So true. You know what they say.... opinions are like..... @ss( ) :P

I guess I don't notice the cable because I have it ziptied to the headrest of my chair and I don't notice the weight. Before I did that, I agree it sucked. I've not had any issues with synching, but I have a very bright room, so maybe it copes ok once the sun goes down.

As for the difference between the Vive Pro and the reverb colors..... its likely because I had about a 2 month break without using the Vive before I got the Reverb. So I probably forgot what the colors looked like.

On the audio, that is definitely crap compared to the Vive. Yes they deliver sound (when the ear piece was not broken off as was the case on my first Reverb), but at least the Vive actually touched and somewhat cut out external sound and was more like an actual headphone with rich sound. My reverbs just barely rest against my ears and the air gap makes it difficult to hear anything well. Its like I'm in an aquarium. And I didn't mean to strap a set of external earphones on. I specifically said "ear buds". I have a nice set of Bose earbuds that plug into the headphone jack and they are WAY better than either the Reverb or the Vive OEM audio solutions. Just my opinion.

I think your difficulty with the audio must relate to your head shape. Mine sit very nicely over my ears and I can’t really hear much external sound at all. The Vive Pro sound was very lacking in any bass, but the hardware was nice quality.

What button are you referring to?

AFAIK, that button does nothing for WMR headsets. You still need to edit the defaultvrsettings file to turn reprojection on and off.

Hey hello! I've asked in the Rift S section, what was their opinion on their VR on my computer, and I've come here to ask the same as I don't know yet what to buy: Rift S as they are sold out are almost at the same price as the Reverb.

I also plan to upgrade to a new computer (keeping the GPU) prly next year or later this one. I play DCS (I don't do MP) but I also play Elite and maybe I'll give a retry on the "new" version o IL2.

What do you reckon? THANKS!:)

It remains set. All you have to do is reset the line in default.vrsettings to what you had before. I always keep a copy of that file just in case I forget what the setting was. Things change regularly at the moment in terms of format and options.

Yep. That was my earlier question. Someone said the new Steam VR update changed it back to off. Does that mean I need to go comment the line out again or just verify the button is still showing on? I checked yesterday and the button still was set to "Enabled".

You should always check... the UI in steam is separate and subordinate to the default.vrsettings file.

As that someone said earlier, because of an update to WMR for SteamVR you need to reset the default.vrsettings line to be whatever you had it set to previously - most likely commented out. Nothing to do with SteamVR or its buttons.

Hi I just plugged in my reverb, it was a long time ago. Level tracking under DCS, it looks like it is not top: when I do left right it also makes a little up / down. Yet the room is light, sensors cleaned. Can the screen in front makes problem? Thank you

Just another heads up, this morning, update (1.1.203) to WMR for SteamVR has changed the default.vrsettings file.

Remember to change it back.

MS are doing a lot of updates recently. Got to be good news.

That's what I want to know too. Have you tried turning the screen off or/and put a towel over it to exclude that the reflecting surface has influence on tracking?

I finally put a brighter light in my room and it works, with screen in front no problem.

Hi

I have a problem when I'm in plane, I use Numpad 5 to reset the view but I am not at the right angle, it's little but it seems my view and I are not exactly the same, regarding throttle and pedals.

is it the same for you ? thanks

I'm getting a problem today. WMR portal keeps saying 'put on your headset' even though it is on. I can get Steam VR to work and it works with DCS but I don't get full tracking. My room should be bright enough (it was fine before) and the only thing that has changed is windows 10 has updated.
