Coxy_99 Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 I run max settings and in MP before this driver i was getting low fps near trees and some stutters, THERE ALL GONE, Very happy with DCS, It runs as smooth as any other game on max
Mustang Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Yes I can attest to this, getting rock steady framerates with this set with the 1080 GTX. One of the big problems fixed in this release •[GeForce GTX 980]: NVAPI calls take a large amount of CPU time. [2418933] I'm pretty sure this affected not only the 980 but a whole swathe of cards, seems to be drawcall related and the source of the improved FPS with this driver.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 26, 2019 ED Team Posted March 26, 2019 seeing improved frames in VR also, not much, but I will take anything I can get at the moment :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Tricky11 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Can confirm a couple of VR users (including myself) from our server have seen big improvements with the latest nvidia driver. Well pleased
Coxy_99 Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 PG was quite hungry but now its like really good.
mr_mojo97 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) Doesn't seem any better at all to me. Using one of the Red Flag missions with F-18 - still getting 16-18 on the ramp. I've only tried NTTR, Caucasus and Normandy only though. I’m still using the VR mod, is this still a good thing to use? And I delete the fxo and metashaders after each update. javelina1 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Can confirm, (via butt measures), this drivers does bring some improvements via previous standard missions. Will shake it out further later in the week. But definitely promising. Knock-Knock Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Its smoother for sure. Hard to tell if the framerate went up, but its certainly a smoother experience, especially when looking around - in VR. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
obious Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) He, I also notice a big improvement. VR seems to be a lot smoother, really happy Edit I noticed that this was the case with 419.35. Will download 419.67 now Edited March 27, 2019 by obious Intel 12900k @ 5.2Ghz, RTX 4090, Samsung 1TB NVME, Thrustmaster Warthog & F-18 stick, Pendular Rudder Pedals - Quest Pro AV8B N/A UFC Build Log AV8B N/A PCBs for sale
obious Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Actually, in response to my earlier post, 419.35 seems smoother to me. Much less jitter and better performance overall I think. mr_mojo97 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Is anybody still using the VR mod? I’m getting terrible stutters in Normandy at tree top height. Bit worrying when you’re all getting good performance and mine’s crap MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |

Mustang Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 On a 48" screen at 1920x1080, won't touch VR with a long stick :)
Harlikwin Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Anyone know what the 980 issue actually was aside from taking too much CPU time? And if it makes a big difference in terms of frame rates for DCS? From the sound of it it may help on the CPU utilization side rather than the GFX side. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1) Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).
Ziptie Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 I’ve been having massive stutter issues recently and have done complete uninstall and reinstall moves of the DCS program without success, even full oculus software sweeps as well. Happy to come across this thread and will check into the driver update. Will report back if it helps. Hope it does, can’t even fly the f14 it’s so bad.. i7 6700 @4ghz, 32GB HyperX Fury ddr4-2133 ram, GTX980, Oculus Rift CV1, 2x1TB SSD drives (one solely for DCS OpenBeta standalone) Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs Airframes: A10C, A10CII, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-16C, UH=1H, FC3. Ziptie Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 Sadly still have the issue despite new driver. Only with DCS, feeling the need for speed and can’t.
