The story of Black Shark at MAKS 2007:

It's not that I wanna feel any special but revealing all key features of BS might bleach your excitement when you buy your copy.

It's a fact that it was presented in public during MAKS airshow but to be able to play it one had to buy a ticket. Daily tickets cost 350 rubles (1 US$=25.50 rubles) so it's very cheap. Entire Moscow and Russia seems quite friendly when you look at the prices of food, drinks, cigarettes, public transportation etc. but for average Russian bloke it might seem expensive. Reason to that is low average salary. For instance subway driver gets 33500 rubles per year and that's like 1300 US$. Petrol is quite cheap, though.

But yes I played BS, but it was just informative flight. I had labels all over monitor so I believe it was a simplified (not reallistic) game setting. I wasn't able to select any single missions, there's only one, probably quick start or something so you start in air with your engines naturally already on and most of the systems powered up. I'm not familiar with engine and systems startup so it's better this way. So the only thing I could keep my focus on was eye candy that BS provides.

Stunning. Details like nothing else with a decent FPS (Ctrl+BackSpace) averaging at 25-30 over the FLOT. The only burden was simultaneous release of many flares acompanied with a huge explosion. It stuttered a bit. Mission was destruction of armoured conwoy (cca 12 units) defended with Vulcans and Avengers. I had couple of Mi-24 on my side but they didn't care about me so much. Those guys had their objectives to follow.

I noticed a large improvement in terrain textures and clipping of scenery objects. It looks and feels much better than in FC-1.12 and the rig that was used wasn't any high-tech comp I believed was necessary to run BS. The guys working there in multimedial hangar told me it was AMD6000+ with X1600Pro and 2GBs of RAM. Nothing special but good enough for BS.

The was no TIR there so I couldn't test no 6DOF. Rig also lacked rudders and joystick was nothing special. I believe it was Saitek Evo or something similar.

I crashed a lot, not being used to a helo way of flying and some 10 YO kids yelled over my shoulder giving me instructions in russian on how to fly this baby. I walked out embarassed by a kid.

But there was a huge restaurant under Tu-95 bears port wing serving cold beer called Zolotaya Bochka (Golden Barrel) and my dish of choice was Shashliki. I tried many Russian beers so my favourites are Stariy Melnik (Old Windmill), Zolotaya Bochka and Klinskoe. ATM I'm drinking some Baltika beer.

Talk to you soon! Tomorrow I'm home and I 'll upload some of my pics and videos!

You are wrong a little bit. In Russia we count our salaries per month so the subway driver has his 1300 USD every month... feel a difference. But there are many 300-500 USD vacancies in Russia even in Moscow.

OOOH my bad! I saw advertisement in the metro and asked the guy standing next to me is it per month or year. He said it per year and I found it quite strange for such a responsible job!

Thanks for correction YO-YO!

To ForceFeedback: Yeah, there's nothing like Russian beer, especially Starshiy Melnik. I found it just the way I like it. Of course I had a lot of vodka too. I like Stolichnaya a lot but Vodka called Standard is also great!

Thanks a lot Vekkinho!!!! Yeah, I think to try BS was a incredible experience ;). What's about the flight model? Did you feel a very realistic FM? Can the blades be broken for over-g maneouvres? Can the neumatics burst becouse a hard landing? You know, all the details that mark the ED FM style

I'm waiting your pictures soon ;)

Regards!!

No matters to be jealous. :smilewink: Moscow became to be very expensive city in last 2-3 years. One-room flat for rent costs not less than 600 USD per month here (it is for ourskirts of the city). Account also around 300-400 USD per month for 'just living'...

Those prices here are pretty much normal in my country as well.

Essencial goods however must be much cheaper in russia than here. Gas costs 1.3 Euros per litter (about 4.9 Euros a gallon Somewhere in the vicinity of 5.9$ ish) wich is terrible realy.

At least 3x(600...700) USD to rent an appartment (1 for an realter agent, one for next month and one for the last month of your leaving)... and 300-400, as Olgerd said just for life.

The question: is it so necessary to live in Moscow? :)

Duh, so we did learn some trivia about living conditions in Portugal and Russia but almost nothing about the public display of BlackShark, no pictures, videos, any more details.. Strange..

In comparison there were tons of material from the last expo was it a year or two ago?
