VNAO T-45 Goshawk

Recommended Posts

Hi
I don't know if it's the same for you but since the last update (2.9.0.47168) the command to salute the crew and launching the catapult doesn't work anymore. So it's impossible to take-off with supercarrier with the T-45. I've tried with regular planes (F-14 and F-18) and it's working normally.

Hi.

Current Supercarrier has the bug around Salute! also about F/A-18C module talked in their forum sections.
F/A-18C becomes not to work normally in detailed.

IRL F/A-18C can cat-launch in MIL power w/o AB for A2A loadouts though, current DCS 2.9.0 .47168 + Sc requires full AB to enable Salute!
T-45's trouble may come from the same Sc bug.
Perhaps only waiting Sc's bugfix patch ..... no retouch on this mod .... OK in the future.

I haven't read this whole threat but regarding the salute not working, I heard mention it had something to do with having the 'throttle detent' option enabled. Also, I haven't tried it yet but I believe there is, or at least used to be, a command for manually shooting the catapult. I haven't personally had to use it yet and don't know if that will help but it's worth a try. I'll give it a go in a bit and see.

The issue has been fixed in yesterday's 2.9.1.48111 Open Beta, with patchnote:

DCS: Supercarrier by Eagle Dynamics
Fixed: The salute command doesn't work when using option Afterburner detent.

Thanks ED!

Yeeees.
I also test T-45 on the latest ob version and that's OK.

So the T-45 will not hook up to the catapult on the supercarrier, right? Will it work on any other CV?

I just checked using the instant action mission. It hooked up and launched without issue.

Hello @MadMaxter and fellow peers

I'm new to the DCS and I love your mod. I'm having some issues in career landings. (I don't have super carrier though. using the stock carrier).

Issue:
When I touch down arrest hook wont catch any wire

Tried Solutions:

  • Hard approach
  • Shallow approach
  • Ramming the jet on to the deck

Attaching a recording as well.

I found a bug in the TACAN, and it is probably also in the VOR and WYPT implementation. Basically it receives the bearing in true, but displays it in magnetic.
I am still trying to find out how to get the magnetic variation off the map, but a temporary workaround is to edit the Cockpit\Scripts\Nav\TACAN.lua file...
in line 161 add a correction for the variation, like this:

 tacanBearing:set((math.deg(math.atan2((atcn.position.z-curz),(atcn.position.x-curx)))-13) %360) --temporarily added "-13" to correct for magvar in Nevada

Add a parenthesis "(" before "math.deg" and add "-13)" before " %360)"

I also found that in CDI mode it doesn't center the CDI if you have the reciprocal course. So it centers with a TO indication, but never when you have a FROM indication...

I've attached 4 images.
The first showing the Goshawk in the same position as the Hornet, notice how the Goshawk thinks it has QDM 041 vs the Hornet showing QDM 029.

After making the edit above you see it now shows more or less correctly..

The last image shows the recipocal CRS set on the HSI, and the CDI stays full scale, instead of being centered.

If you are not flying in Nevada use a different correction 😉

Does anyone have time to help me implement this? :

local magvar = require("magvar")
magvar.init(month, year)
magvar.get_mag_decl(lat, lon)

Hello,

I just installed the T-45C Mod, but when starting DCS (Open Beta in newest version) I get the message that authorization failed and that the VNAO T-45 Goshawk is not authorized and will not be available in game. I downloaded the files from here :

Is there another version of this Mod or has anyone a solution? Thanks!

Hi ram0506,
you should install the mod in your Saved Games folder:
C:\Users\your..username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\Aircraft
Don't forget to read the readme file ;-)

Also go to the first page of this thread, there is a link to version 1.0.1 on a mediafire website from MadMaxter

Hey, Fresh, thanks a lot for your quick response!

That did the trick for me. I unpacked the files in the main game folder before.

Btw I found version 1.01.

Thanks again

@Fresh Hi Seavoyage,

please tell me how you found out about all this? I am new to programming mods and I would like to update the T-45C. You only just joined the forums, but looking at what you posted you are not new.

Which file should I backup and edit?

Thanks,

Fresh

VNAO_T45.lua (v1.0.1) file under the 'SFM' (Standard Flight Model)  section: the changes are 'aerodynamics' parameters. 'engine' parameter remain the same.

Under the 'Gear' section, the suspension mods shorten the landing gear by increasing the stroke:

    nose_gear_amortizer_direct_stroke        =  0.1882,    -- down from nose_gear_pos
    nose_gear_amortizer_reversal_stroke      =  -0.365,  -- max strut compression up from nose_gear_pos
    nose_gear_amortizer_normal_weight_stroke =  -0.235,

    main_gear_amortizer_direct_stroke           =  0.1882,    --  down from main_gear_pos
    main_gear_amortizer_reversal_stroke      =  -0.5795, --   max strut compression up from main_gear_pos
    main_gear_amortizer_normal_weight_stroke =  -0.615,

I stumbled on this thread yesterday. I've jets already that barely get flown so I'm not exactly in need of another one. Until a few pages in at least.

After a fair bit of fiddling about to get it installed I looked up some cold start advice and started binding inputs. Air Warfare Group, IntoTheBlue and GrimReapers all have videos on YT that were all helpful enough. Next thing I know I'm in the ME at Biggin Hill building a bleedin airshow and I've lost all track of time. Today I added a carrier, in the Estuary 😁 and I'm getting in some much needed practice. I've yet to get back on the boat though I haven't really tried much. Busy flying about. Makes a change to fly a jet for a bit as I can barely drag myself out of vintage props for long. It's been alright.

Amazing job everyone made of this. It's really well done and though I'm not sure how many of the team that worked on it are still about or not, I'm grateful just the same. Nice to see a bit of altruism in effect so thanks a lot for this little gem. Really is impressive. Maybe it'll coax me into all the Fs sitting in the hangar too?

I've noticed some of the switches aren't working for me while they do in others videos. Hook Bypass doesn't move, can't think what else. Not sure if it's something I've missed or what.

Good stuff though, thanks a lot.

GRAZIE

I'll look up mine when I get home. But basically I've mapped everything as close to the real thing as possible. Takes < 5 min.
Cheers!

@MAXsenna Do your switches work on the right hand side? The hook bypass thing and a couple of other switches on my right panel don’t move but the same switches do seem to work in the vids I’ve seen on youtube.

Don’t suppose any of us can check anything at the minute with the login error being sorted.

cheers.

I'm at work, I'll check when I get home. But I have saved my credentials, and everything always works for me. Community modules should work in any case.

Seems I've lost all my bindings, but they should easily be remade. I'll post them later.

This seems correct. Maybe they have an updated version that's unknown to me. Who knows! 🤷🏻‍♂️
In any case, your best bet is to hover the mouse over a button. If it works in game the mouse pointer should turn green, and a keybind should exist in the Controls Settings..

Cheers!
