JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 AFAIK the accident happend on a polish airshow. Two pilots are reported to be killed. Probably some native polish could provide some more detailed info on this incident. http://www.tvn24.pl/-1,1519948.1,wiadomosc.html edit: I think the video of the crash itself has been removed from the the linked website... Skopro_PL Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 well, one of the pilots that was killed was the founder of the group(Lech Marchelewski,4200hrs) and this was his farewell flight, the other was a younger pilot, and as you can see it didnt turn out so well. The crowd was silent, then cries could be heard along with prayers following. The only person still speaking was the commentator, who cried out "mother of god, what has happened, jesus christ,i cant live through this" ,this was one of the harder maneuvers with all four planes crossing from 4 corners simultaneously, parts of one of the planes fell into the forest, while the other plane fell onto the field.Theres probably going to me more info at a later time, but thats the jist of it. | 8700k @4.9 | Gigabyte Gaming 7 | 32gb Tridentz @3000 | EVGA 1080 TI SC2 | CV1 | VKB MCG PRO [sigpic]https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FeLGqKyJ3K08k3z-7XaegWgRuGRGkKUs/view?usp=sharing[/sigpic]

Hellcat61 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I agree. Thankfully no one on the ground was hurt. That is where the line is truly drawn. While the pilots know the risk of their job, spectators shouldn't face the same risks just for showing up at an air show. "When you're out of Tomcats, you're out of fighters!"
VMFA117_Poko Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I just came back from Radom with one night in Warsaw. I was there with Kivi. We saw that on our own eyes. You can't believe this is really happening, you know? We've got recorded their training on the ground where they walked and repeated every sentence of the flight - we were sitting just 20 meters from them. They wanted to make this pass 3 times in a row but the first time was fatal... It should be the last flight of the older (62 or 64) pilot - col. Lech Marchelewski (more than 4000 hours in flight), second (Piotr Banachowicz) was just 24 (500 hours). The third passed through higher. After landing he just layed down on the ground and started to cry. Horrible. Media and the experts say that was a mistake of pilot. Rest in Peace. It was 10th airshow in Radom. We had never any accident before.
