[NO BUG] Missing Step Function in MPCD when armed with JSOWs

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

After today's patch I can't step through the stations holding JSOWs and thus setup targets for more than one station (resulting in 2 targets or a choice of 2 out of 5..)

Step function is available when taking HARMs or Mavericks..

Missing for JDAM too for me...just came here to search for posts.

In my case, I was interested to see if the pod could load each station independently with coordinates for a QTY release. I'm also sad, because I couldn't find out. :( :)

I am not sure it should have step as you chose the station you want to fire from when you are setting up your weapon, you can choose 1 or all stations, etc. Or am I misunderstanding you?

See the screenshot above. Right side, center pushbutton (I get confused trying to remember which are which on which aircraft). The 'step' option should be there to step through the stations...well, it's gone now. Same for JDAMS from what I have tried. There is no longer an option to step stations in PP mode for either. You are stuck on STA2 until you release it.

Yeah gonna ask if that was by design or error.

I hope not by design. That kind of kills setting up preplanned targets except for jamming coords, dropping, jamming coords, dropping. That's the only way to get to the next station now. It kills multi-target quantity releasing...everything.

That'd be a big bummer...

Hey guys, I think I figured it out. If you go into the JSOW page and select QTY, then box all the weapons you want to release, the STEP function will magically appear. I don't recall that step in any of Wags' tutorials.

Hi all

My understanding is this

STEP Option - Provided when the SMS determines that more than one weapon of the selected type is available for release and the quantity is greater than 1.

For example the STEP function will only show for JDAM if you select two pylons at once.

The team are still investigating this.

I see what you are referencing, And I agree with your statement. Add that to the info above about the QTY selection and it adds up...so it would appear that it’s ‘intentional’ changes by the devs. I would say that perhaps Wags may want to do another video or at least post something in the Hornet Update thread as I’m sure this is going to cause a lot of confusion and there will only be about a dozen more threads on the topic.

Also, any chance of a higher priority release on the mission cart feature? I’m would think as a work-around you can box QTY, step through and hand-jam coordinates for each station, then unbox as needed if you don’t intend to ripple-release them in order to pre-plan your targets prior to getting there, but it’s going make it that much more painful to set up stores. Just a thought.

There is no STEP option if QTY is lower than 2. Go to JDAM(JSOW) DSPLY -> QTY and choose stations needed. For release from one station select only certain one.

So...new ‘feature’. :) Just not one we all want, but appears to be correct, so it is what it is.

Will PP MSNs save after unboxing QTY? IE what if I want to set up multiple hard points prior to ingress, but drop them individually, not using the QTY function?

So the process would be

1) Box QTY and select all bombs

2) Program your PP MSNs for each station using STEP

3) Deselect QTY

4) Ingress

5) Drop each bomb individually as desired, never re-boxing QTY

I’m not in a position to test this, just curious if it would work.

Same as my thoughts above. ‘Should’ work...in theory. :)

Can someone please clarify how to setup 8 JSOWs on 8 targets?

So far for me it was

1) select Station X

2) Program Target 1

3) Program Target 2

4) Select Station =! X

5) Goto 1

For using them:

1) Ingress

2) Select JSOW Page -> MSN

3) Remember which station you're starting on (let's call it X)

4) Fire all JSOWs in Range on their first target.

5) when back on STation X -> choose target 2 -> Fire

6) next station, repeat 5 until out of jsows..

So how is that done now? Can I program more then 5 targets ?

Just confused...

Not tested, so you’ll have too. See above posts. Select the QTY first to regain access to the ‘STEP’ function, program weapons as before, deselect as desired for the number you want to employ at any given time. Extra steps, but should still work, in theory anyway.

New features like this must be included in changelogs instead of leaving the end-users to waste three hours trying to figure it out for themselves after watching official tutorials that do not reflect current procedures.

We are sorry, but the change was added at the dev level, I am not sure anyone was aware the change was merged, that said things can change in Early Access, and its why it goes to Open Beta first.
