Pilotasso Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 IAF Su-30 R-73 Launch at Target Flare This video is so uncommon for 2 reasons. It shows the burn time of R-73, about 4-5 seconds just like the sidewinder. And it was shown before an audience, in this hemisphere we wouldn't do that due to strict safety regulations. .

Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Pilotasso, live fire displays are anything but unusual. I don't get what you mean by "this hemisphere", but anyway, you have quite a lot of these in the West, if that's what you mean. There's Axalp, in Switzerland, for instance. Also, I recall watching a live fire (bombing/strafing, if I remember correctly) demonstration by F-5s in Brazil somewhere in the late '90s, and I'm sure there were more like that, not only in Brazil but all around the world. If the proper safety measures are taken, live fire demonstrations can be carried out safely :)

If one thing from flight controls is done in particular way you may blind shoot that it's done in the same way on all the rest of the Russian aircrafts from the last 3 decades at least. Even fighters and helicopters share a lot of cockpit elements. Why single lever? Probably the answer is - because they like it that way. Left and right wheel brakes are differentiated either through coupling with rudder controls (not necessarily anywhere near the rudder pedals) or not differentiated at all. A more knowledgeable guy would have to take over from here. 1 F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close

Just curious That Mig-29 flight simulator resembles a lot to Lockon. There is a frame where Crimea map is shown, and another where the town shown is very very similar to Lomac. Could it be using LOMAC 3D engine? Is it maybe another client of TFCSE? Regards!
IvanK Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Great videos good find. Confirms the FC2 HUD bug in that IAS not TAS should be shown at all times. At present in FC2 when you switch tho Radar search the speed changes to TAS. See this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=53129&highlight=HUD+TAS

A more knowledgeable guy would have to take over from here. From warbirdalley.com: Like the vintage MiG fighters and the Yak-52 and Nanchang CJ-6 trainers, the L-39 utilizes a stick-mounted wheel brake lever. There is no nosewheel steering -- the front wheel assembly castors freely. A selector valve sends hydraulic pressure to the left and right main wheel brakes in proportion to the rudder pedal deflection, and in proportion to how hard you squeeze on the handle. Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 In the Su-30, at least, you just need to press the tip of the pedals, IIRC. Nothing on the stick. I had a go on the simulator at MAKS 2009, quite nice to handle. After that, the Lock On Flanker was just ruined for me :P. But that was a later mark, maybe the early Flankers (and MiGs as well) don't have such function.
