ED Team Yo-Yo Posted September 5, 2008 ED Team Posted September 5, 2008 Nice, will we as players be able to enter some kind of debug-mode so we can actually see this in the game? It would be great if we could see the air movement to be able to actively seek out and feel the different turbulence :) The main result will be gentle piloting required if you feel the turbulence. :) Ніщо так сильно не ранить мозок, як уламки скла від розбитих рожевих окулярів There is nothing so hurtful for the brain as splinters of broken rose-coloured spectacles. Zorrin Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Will the pilot be sick on the hot bumpy days when you haven't had enough to drink and you feel the bumps just wearing you down and down....? :D So with the air movements, will the movement of the air affect the weather in anyway? How soon can we expect some real dynamic weather? Or am I clutching at straws... Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
Duke49th Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 How soon can we expect some real dynamic weather? Or am I clutching at straws... Mmhhh...realtime Weather like in FSX would be great:D Just make a connection to a "Weather-Server", choose your Country and have fun with local Weather conditions:) I think real dynamic Weather is to hard for any Desktop Computer. It is toooo complex. That's why you have(in FSX) the ability to connect to any Kind of "Weather-Server" (whatever it is called) and download the Weather Data every 5 mins or so. Yellonet Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 The servers just let you download the current weather data, they don't do any calculations for you as far as I know. Dynamic weather is very possible, it doesn't really have to be very demanding at all for the hardware unless you're going to modele every molecule in the air and so on. Having changing wind conditions, clouds floating around shifting shape and sometimes building up with rain and so on shouldn't be all too hard on the hardware. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Ratgnagna Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Hello! A question, will be possible to aim cannon with helmet aiming system? Thanks. Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
GGTharos Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Yes, but not directly (ie. you aim the Shkval, which has a maximum traverse rate, and the gun follow the Skval. In other words, it's not like the Apache's 'look and shoot' setup) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

upyr1 Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 If some one were contenplaiting using the development tools to design an add on simulator for DCS, how much information would they need in order have it qualify as payware?
upyr1 Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I would imagine that the market (flight-sim community) would vote with their money if they felt a plane was worthy of payment. A review by the first few people who buy the add on would be a good indicator to most prospective customers. If Eagle Dynamics dose not think it i worth putting their name on the add on then you won't get the chance to buy it. You would have to then down load it free if the developer thinks it is worth the risk.

This whole question was aimed at Wags any how- if he can comment on what ED would consider acceptable.
sobek Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 As I interpret it, a developer can release add ons for free, at any time. That's how i saw it too. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Rhino4 Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I would a few things to hawg's post above: As a minimum, I think it's safe to say that payware add-ons would need to have at least the following:In order for an update to qualify as payware, it must be officially sanctioned by ED. For them to approve, you would probably need at LEAST what hawg said above: • Highly-detailed six degrees of freedom cockpit • Advanced flight physics • Realistic damage model and system cascade affect • Mouse-clickable cockpit • Detailed modeling and control of engine, fuel, hydraulics, electrical, navigation, radio, fire suppression, sensor, and weapon systemsIf you wish for it to be available free, then you can have anything with or without ED's official sanction. Although I think that without ED's at least initial approval, you won't be given access to the developement tools that other developers who intend to release a payware addon will get...

-sulan- Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Will it be possible to place trains in the mission editor? Very good question me thinks!! I allways missed this in LO.. It'd be nice if we could at least place static train-cars..

RedTiger Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Hey there! I was bored today so I started reading old threads on the Lock On forums. I came across this old dinosaur: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=7837&highlight=datalink Now that we have a MiG-29A in some stage of development, what about GCI and AWACS? I'm aware of some of the work done on the radio in the Ka-50. That seems like its a good start towards having working GCI and AWACS.
deviletk Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Now AWACS would be sweet. Can just imagine the amount of work to get that in... :book::helpsmilie: Will be nice to start hearing the info about the next engine they are working on. BS will blow us away im sure and the next..! ajajaj :D Regards Alex "Snuffer" D. AMD FX8350 (8 core) 4.1GHZ ::: 8GB Dominator 1600mhz ::: GTX660 2GB ::: 2xHD ::: 24" ASUS
RedTiger Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Now AWACS would be sweet. Can just imagine the amount of work to get that in... :book::helpsmilie: Will be nice to start hearing the info about the next engine they are working on. BS will blow us away im sure and the next..! ajajaj :D First...yeah, forgive me if I'm getting ahead of the game here. BS isn't even out and I'm already trying to envision how GCI+MiG-29 would work. Second, don't ask me how it would be done. AWACS and GCI, under the best circumstances, would be controlled by a human. That won't work for a single-player campaign though (not to mention it wouldn't work for me, the mission builder and single-player player), and GCI/AWACS is going to be an integral part of operating some of these planes.
DaWu Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 No, trains are not available as user objects. so you wont be able to designate a train as a mission objective either? are there trains at all and how is there appearing simulated? do they have a fixture or are the appearing by random?
RedTiger Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 (edited) Hey, it worked fantastic in falcon, I'm sure it will work even better in DCS. I also heard some of the new pilot voices for black shark, they sound really authentic :D The AWACS isn't really what I wonder about, its more the GCI+MiG-29 interaction. Like I said...integral. :D Read post #12 in that old thread I linked. That capability has also been discussed to death here. It will be interesting to see how the AI handles GCI duty. This type of thing is like 75% of the fun for me, having detailed enough aircraft to fly them the way they were designed to be flow. Edited September 14, 2008 by RedTiger
-sulan- Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 so you wont be able to designate a train as a mission objective either? are there trains at all and how is there appearing simulated? do they have a fixture or are the appearing by random? I'd guess it works as in Lock-On? In Lockon there are trains and busses moving around IF you had "civilian traffic" enabled in the graphics settings, these can't be assigned as mission objectives. There are also stationary trains as part of the map, these can be assigned as mission objectives. But sometimes one can get LOD-related problems when using "map-objects" as targets, that is they fade in or pop in very late on some users settings.. So right now they're mostly immersion I thinks, very nice immersion though :) If they get placable in the future they'll be more useful me thinks..
