BBQ Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 The answer is in the FAQ--but here's the short version: Blackshark will not take advantage of multi-core processors. However, future versions/modules are expected to.
crazysundog Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I have a question about multicore CPU's, particularly dual v's quad. My father is about to order a new PC. I will visit him in Scotland at Xmas to set it up. Lets say he wants to optimize the CPU for BS. His budget allows him to buy an E8500 and run it around 3.6Ghz or he can opt for a Q6700 or similar and clock it up maybe to 3Ghz. Which one should he buy? Will BS utilise the quad cores now or in the distance future. I am guessing the higher speed E8500 will be better, it will also give better results in IL2 1946 and FS9 which are the other 2 games he plays. Sorry if this has been asked before, I have trolled thru the forum but kind find clear answwer to this. Cheers Iain I was in the same situation; E8500 or Q6700 for BS. I decided on the E8500 (45nm) for now, and am happy with the decision so far. I figured that when BS has multi-core support I can upgrade to a faster 45nm Quad then, probably for cheaper by that time! I trolled many forums before making this choice, and I really felt the real question was 'do I want to upgrade later?' If you/your pappy doesnt want to upgrade later, go for the quad now! :smartass: my opinion Cheers :D
Dr_Watson Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Exactly my thoughts too...u saved me the hassle of typing them. The E8500 will give great results anyway if you pair it along with a 4870 for example. If it doesn't then we are all doomed! I guess the time gap bewteen a new module that is optimised for a quad will be long enough to warrant going for a dual just now. It also depends if a quad really makes that much difference in the future but we will see at the time. An upgrade wouldn't be a big hassle anyway.
element1108 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Jets, choppers...bring it on. With the level of cockpit detail and flight processes that are apparent in BS I'll fly a freaking transport plane just to immersed into their world.
Zulu Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Question about the pylons... Are you able to load all 4 pylons with the vikr or just the outermost? To INVENT an Airplane is Nothing. To BUILD One is Something. But to FLYis EVERYTHING. - Otto Lilienthal [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RedTiger Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Question about the pylons... Are you able to load all 4 pylons with the vikr or just the outermost? Pretty sure only one set of pylons is equipped for the Vikhr.
RedTiger Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 What weapons are new to the black shark that could not be used in flaming cliffs? Or are they all the same? There was a thread some time back that gave some info on the weapons available in BS for the Ka-50. That might give you some answers. :)
GGTharos Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Even if the weapons in Black Shark have the same naming and represent the same rocket-powered artillery, you will find that they do not behave as in FC. They will definitely all be new weapons to you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Esac_mirmidon Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Also rockets like B-8, B-12? I thought that only guns and Vikhr were WAFM´d, missiles and rockets in future modules... sobek Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Does anybody know how the front gear retracting works when the gear does not point at the 0° position? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Ratgnagna Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Does anybody know how the front gear retracting works when the gear does not point at the 0° position? There are no actuating system on the nose gear to steer. I think there are spring to retract it to the neutral position. Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
sobek Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 There are no actuating system on the nose gear to steer. I think there are spring to retract it to the neutral position. Yeah the no steering part is why i wondered in the first place, springs sound plausible though. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Ratgnagna Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 On all airlines, when the nose gear dump is decompressed after takeoff, a mechanism help the gear to return to 0°, maybe it's the same thing Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
sobek Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 But Airliner front wheels are steerable. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Ratgnagna Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Yes, but steering is inhibited when the aircraft is over a determinate speed (I don't remember that speed). The "nose gear neutral return system" operates without hydraulic. I search a schematic, but is difficult. Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
EvilBivol-1 Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 What weapons are new to the black shark that could not be used in flaming cliffs? Or are they all the same? Technically, the UPK-23 gun pods are new. Unlike the SPPU-22 (GSh-23) gun pods used by the Su-25/T in Flaming Cliffs, the UPK-23s do not depress. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Legolasindar Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 The option camera1 + Schkval is for a second display or to assign the Schkval the second core of the CPU? Thanks and sorry for my english. nemises Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 It is for a Second Monitor ... using same display unit (ie. windows stretched desktop), nothing to do with CPU cores. Everything is rendered by and displayed by a single core+thread and GPU using Directx9. *disclaimer* this info is just my understanding, I have no internal knowledge of the product beyond what has been read on this forum.
CAT_101st Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I was wondering if I culd asine a potomeater to the contrast and bright for the shkval? Xjikz Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 new question : I saw on the dev notes that we can "draw" in the ABRIS to make lines and add waypoints, but can we save it and re-use in another mission ? (I mean this would be great to ask to all the pilots of a MP mission to prepare their flight plans and danger zones before the mission, and the day we play it, everyone loads his plan, and is ready to fly...!)
