Me too. There is a Hind squadron base few kilometers from my home, I can see them flying over my head sometimes, it would be great to fly them in DCS.

Search and Rescue with the Hind! Come in blasting, land to let the onboard infantry go out and retrieve the rescuee, lift off, spamming flares and laying fire at the tree line :joystick:

Only a year and a half or so.

My question is "which hind"? They have quite different cockpits. The Mi-24V and the Mi-24P are both quite attractive options. I would especially like to see the door guns modeled...

Btw. Is the Mi-24P going to be modeled as AI?

if they are doing the D Longbow as flyable then that means the British is in the game... YESSSSS!!!!.... first dibs in the front seat...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

They cannot do an A-10C or and Apache longbow because of the classified material that cannot be released to the public. that is why we still get an incredibly great choice with the regular Apache and A-10. be happy with it because you know it will be better than anything else. Ever :)

While we would love to to the A-10C, we simply cannot because the information we have on it was obtained via the A-10C DTS contract we did for the ANG and the US DoD must approve that information (any of it) to be used in game. After a year of waiting we have yet to hear anything back. Rather than wait heaven knows how much longer, we decided to do the A model for which we have plenty of data acquired elsewhere.

Regarding the AH-64A vs. AH-64D, we chose the A model because it is a better counter part to the Ka-50, we have better data on it, and access to SME help on it. All in all, we have much better resources to do the A at this time.

That's not to say that we don't do these two aircraft later in the DCS, just not in the immediate future.

Knowing how slow DoD works, unless you have insiders, this request will stay 'in the bottom of a pile'.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb and suggest that Yellonet, Dali, and Empeck were saying that historically/chronologically the Hind was the more accurate counter-part to the Apache. There we both in use during the same time frame.....right?

Besides, I agree with them and add by saying the Hind deserves a shot to be included...at least at some point, maybe a distant point, but still.

Well not really, if you're looking for a pare that was flying at the same time, than a Hind should be with AH-1s, they even fought against each other in the middle east.

The AH-64A, is not really the best counterpart to the Ka-50 (#25 standard) neither, actually that should be the AH-64C.

For those that do not know, what a Charlie Apache is: hose are the AH-64As that were modified to represent overall standard of the AH-64D, but didn't included the Lonbow FCR, and new power plant... of course the 'C' designation was dropped in 1993, and all are now known as AH-64Ds, but the difference is still there.

Once people get their hands on a high-fidelty flyable A-10A or AH-64A they will probably change their mind. ;)

Now that's a nice picture! Is that a PKB facing out of the left door?

Funny, how hind threads always turn into Apache ones...

Still the question is "which variant"?

The Mi-24P has the advantage of a fixed forward firing GSH-30K with 750 rounds. I moded Ka-52:TA so that you could fly one of these and it was much more fun than flying the base model. Then again the Mi-24D and Mi-24V are much more widespread.

Being able to fly insertions is surprisingly enjoyable to.

It would be neat if DCS could branch into Afghanistan and model both eras...
