I really like the look of the new terrain, much more realistic to view, and with greater depth perception. Good work.

Water.... maybe is good, maybe not... (for me is fifty fifty) but even if we get the point that water is good look at area near water - uuuggglllyyy.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

the new water will have animations :)

To give the small streams a more natural look, “DCS: Black Shark” will include animation to the water texture. The below images compare streams in “Flaming Cliffs” and “DCS: Black Shark”.

AAAh! The high contrast. Some of us have eye conditions and find anything the isn't a bit indistinct an immersion killer! Is there a way to activate the old washed out colours in DCS?

Damn, that actually looks good, whereas most of the other screens we've seen the terrain looks...marginally better/bit more detailed. This gives me hope the aesthetics might actually keep up with the fidelity of simulation...which together work toward immersion (suspension of disbelief etc).

 

Wish ED would release more screenies of the terrain, give us confidence, but perhaps thats one of their "wow" factors they want to hang on to?!

I wouldn't call the terrain improvements a "wow" factor, but a significant improvement, especially in the new areas where the mountains are much rounder. The higher tree, building and road density is also quite visible.

I think that after so many dozens of screenies of (great!) ground models, I would really like to beg for a batch of screeshots that really show those aspects (those that Evil-Bilol-1 is talking about and that we kind of see in that picture :

Reading about the new terrain i see that The map will be extended down to Georgia and the turkish border.

But what about the Crimean peninsula, will it still be available with all its Airbases or does the Eastern expansion cost us the western part ?

How are we going to run this new terrain? I already had to turn the draw distance for scenery buildings in FC to low to get a stable frame rate out of a modern computer. Now it's way more pretty! Is ED working on optimizing the engine?
