My FPS are back in the 90's

6700k

5700x

32 gb ram

Just to help ED understand what's going on here, I will try to explain a little more. The problem for me is not the max frame rate. I can still get frame rates up in the area of 140 fps at 2k resolution with 4xMSSA. Sounds great right? Yes, except that the frames will then slowly drop or swing dramatically for no normal reason.

In the mission P-51D_Bomber_Escort, I start the mission at approx. 20,000 feet in clear sky over the water escorting some bombers. As I fly straight, over the water continuing to look in the same direction, my frames will slowly drop from 130 down all the way to the 60's. Moments later they will climb back up to 130 and so forth. This is all while flying straight with nothing changing around me over water. At one point when the bombers start to drop bombs my fps dropped to 19.

I have started a mission from cold start and switched to an outside view, leaving the camera looking in one direction and watched the same thing with the frame count. It will bounce 20 -40 frames while I'm not moving, looking around etc.

I'm not using the 445 Nvidia drivers that have been causing issues. I have cleared out my shaders and fxo files. This issue was not happening before 2.5.6.

DCS World Patch Notes Discussion Thread

Yes, some users have seen improvement, but many have not, we are aware and the team will continue to work on the problem.

Bignewy,

From user reports has ED noticed any trends in user hardware or installed software that contributes to the varying results.

some users have seen improvement

Count me among those. Haven't flown much lately, but updated my NVidia driver and DCS both yesterday and the sim just absolutely blazes now, at least in free flight. The hell you guys did?!?

Never had a problem with fps in free flight with 2.5.6. Try a mission with ai units for a change. :music_whistling:

I think people who have trouble with FPS should try updating drivers and deleting metashaders and fxo folders.

I did both and see a marked improvement in simple missions such as MiG-15 nevada dogfight instant action (four airplanes)

Did both and it runs worse than ever on my rig, I have never had a problem with constant freezes up until now, my MSI afterburner GPU usage graph drops like a stone every 20 seconds or so.

Ya, thanks. You should read through the thread.

Now, I'm a groundpounder. And ground AI has never given me any grief FPS-wise. So I won't gain anything by flying a combat mission now as opposed to flying it later at my leisure, because I fully expect the AI to chug along just as always. But thanks for your concern anyway.

  • ED Team

We had a small house keeping patch.

To merge features is a whole other story.

When I have any news about the next patch I will let everyone know.

thanks

How is there no mention amywhere on ED forums about carriers being broken on MP servers after this patch? Hoggit servers are borked and reportedly wouldnt load at all and servers that do load with carriers have aircraft bouncing all over the deck. Game breaking bug and everyone is awefully quiet about it on official forums while everyone talks about nothing but fps issues which dont even themselves make sense. With some claiming no improvement, some claiming small improvement and some even saying its worse. Just throwing code into the release and seeing what happens?

@Talonx1, open beta is for testing purposes, so it's fine, you can use stable if you don't want to take part in the test.

It was stated elsewhere that current carrier issues are known, but it will need much more time to fix that.

To be frank, at this point I would much rather have the bugfixes and new features (such as the hornet improved gunsight) but with the 2.5.5 engine.

Because really, there are so many issues with performance and such in 2.5.6 that all the new features and bug fixes mean very little in the grand scheme of things.

Not disagreeing with you, but is that even possible? Do we know if the fixes work stand alone without the 2.5.6 update? Would be cool if it did, but I think it might cause more of a headache at this point to do that. I don't know anything about coding/programming so I'm just guessing here. Any one with more knowledge that can shine a little light?

Literally the lamest and over used excuse. Stable is just as broken, its still on bigs from 5 months ago and everyone knows full well including ED that the majority of users play on OB including MP servers and that the title "beta" is nothing more than window dressing on what is the current proper build. Not to mention content that can be paid for but is only available on OB. Try again. No excuse for completely breaking content with a patch thats supposed to improve the title not destroy it. And to my knowledge its super carrier issues that were "known" and going to take a while to fix. That doesnt mean they fully intended to break current carriers and it was going to be a while to fix them. They worked fine 2 days ago.

The point of a beta version is to try things while being able to roll back if required.

What's makes it difficult now is that the roll back should have occurred weeks ago instead of pilling up things on top of this broken version.
