F-16C is my worst performing mod. WTF??

I get 98-150 FPS average on my other modules. Including hi fidelity.

I get 25-40 fps, 50 when looking at the sky, and never even breaks 60 fps.

What the bloody 'ell is going on?

Good thing it was free trial. WIll be waiting for performance to rise before purchase. ED, I am very disappointed.

I don’t know why everyone keeps doing this, but turn off the lens effects unless you happen to be making a video or something. They are huge resource hogs.

As for the rest, I have the f16 and while my frame rates are low, they’re low across the board- not especially bad with the f16

Strange, even with the performance hit/bug of 2.5.6 i get 35-40fps(locked) in VR in the Viper with higher settings than you, and way higher in 2D.

I'm the same as DmitriKozlowsky. Lens effects have no effect on my fps at all.

I find in some circumstances it's a bit of a lower framerate than others - comparable with the F-14. Not sure why. But sometimes it's fine.

not sure what ya'lls problem is. I get 45-55FPS in VR, 100-125 in 2D in the Viper. No issues at all performance wise here. Do you use the VR shaders mod?

It always amuses me when some people think that because they are not having an issue that there is no issue.

It also amazes me how some people bang on about that mod. In my opinion, it is a waste of time. For those on high end hardware, it shows almost no performance boost, and the visual degradations destroy all the great work that ED puts into lighting and shading.

It certainly helped me out with my system (i9 9900K, 2080 Super, nvme, Rift S). I get a lot less stutters and it's overall a lot smoother than it was before, it even allows me to stream in VR which I was not able to do before. It also seems less "soupy" than before, I tried the mod with 2.5.5 and didn't notice a difference, I decided to try it again with 2.5.6 and I was pleasantly surprised.

Look, it's each to his own, of course. I am just not prepared to sacrifice huge visual effects for very little performance gain.

I get where you are coming from and agree, to each his own.

Do you play in VR or 2D? If VR, which heaset?

See my sig. The mod is really only intended for VR.

Lucky for me, I don't think that this is no problems, hence saying "Not sure what the problem is" not "There is no problem your equipment sucks". Some people have issues, no doubt, I was simply stating MY personal case. I wasn't "banging" on about the mod, just asked a question if he was using it. I tried it, didn't see any improvement, removed it. God damn dude, I wasn't making a case for him to use it was just asking for more information. I see that is not welcome, so I will shut up.

It was the way you worded it. Seemed to me to be a 'what are you all complaining about, I don't have a problem' type thing. Aplogogies if that was wrong.

Re mod, I wasn't aiming that at you, it was meant to be a general statement about the enthusiasm that some people show for it. A mystery to me!

With lens effect off, for some absurd reason the sun is rendered only as a white blob on the sky. So you need to turn at least "flare" on to have proper sun rendering. Also, it doesn't seem to have much performance impact nowadays, if any.

The first thing I noticed is I can't read the HUD.

Finally someone. The boys kept saying it was just me icon_redface.gif

Definately an issue in the CV1. Haven't tried pancake mode yet though 7ahdfje4.png

Still a blast to ride, just needs more zooming and educated guesswork, or simply use the good old steam gauges (although the steps from 0 to M 1 are a real shame, there's just one tick for 0.5 in between) dealwithit.png

No issues regarding performance though. In 256, DCS runs as bad with the Viper as it does with other modules icon_biggrin.gif

I sense things might better tomorrow though pinkie-approved.png

Which is a bloody shame and hopefully gets fixed. Lens flares are totally unrealistic and ugly as well. Just nice to simulate a view through a cam in external views. Which is why I always switch 'em off whereever I come across such an option.

Yeah, in certain lighting I can't see a thing. In the other sim, we have a shaded face shield on the helmet we can pull down in those situations. It helps a lot and is realistic.

I'll probably buy it anyway. I'm a sucker for the Viper.

Plus, $40 is less painful for an unfinished plane.

I bought it this evening, the wide open cockpit is a joy and the sound and visuals are top notch. I look forward to watching this progress.
