Harlikwin Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 Looks pretty awesome - Through the lens 4k DCS video HP reverb G2 Looks good, though I really can't tell if the color depth is any better with just cockpit shots (usually the landscape looks a bit washed out to me). New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1) Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).
sze5003 Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 Looks good but I don't really see much of a difference I guess comparing to the G1. sze5003 Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 3080 & G1 or 1080 & G2 Life is so difficult ;-)You would need a Ti version of the 3080 for best results. Problem is trying to buy one when they release. It probably makes sense to get the G2 first and then the GPU later. You will be waiting a while for the GPU because they are always hard to get when they launch. M1Combat Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 for "best" results I suppose a 3080 is going to be "best"... But I'm running a Reverb V2 on a 2080 (No Ti) and it works pretty good... I don't think anyone will need a 3080 to have a fantastic experience... I don't think anyone will need a 3080 to have a fantastic experience...I guess but I've seen plenty of people with 2080ti's making a fuss that it's not enough for VR and that you are still not getting a high fps. I run a 1080ti myself and if it's not too crazy of a mission, I find the reverb g1 to do fine. DCS VR is gonna be one of those where you can throw as much hardware at it as you can and it won't matter because it's not really coded to be optimized for VR the best it could be. It does not represent actual views if you put focus and quality of the camera into consideration. It should look better in the real headset. Yes, I am plan on upgrading from pascal to ampere gen. Perhaps it is me, but I have also seen messages that it differs from Reverb to Reverb. The clarity is fantastic. The mura is the attacker of the clarity. The sweetspot in G1 is small, the sweetspot is enormous in the G2. Look at the vid i posted. It's through the lens, in reality this is more sharp. Imagine.....:D Below reverb g1 dcs for the comparison. :D I think the jump is from 720p to a 1080p. By the way 4k is miles ahead...probarbly 5 to 10 years. There is simple no videocard who can pull it. :D I am happy with my HP reverb G1, but G2 is way better in my opinion. I started with the oculus CV1 big steps in VR are made.
