LSO grades 3PTS after landing on main gear

Hi,

I've just got Cut / 3PTSIW (landed three points) from LSO. I watched the track, and it is clear (to my uncalibrated eyeball) that nose wheel was reasonably high above the deck at touchdown. I admit that my AoA was less than 8.1 because I added power to MIL right before touchdown, but certainly this is far from landing on nose wheel. Please have a look at my track and screenshot.

Same here I get cut on 3 wire with 3PTSIW. The damn LSO always cuts me for landings I'm pretty happy with. I did not touch down on 3 points and flew the ball and AOA the whole way down.

Power too soon I believe is PTS. The 3 i have no idea.

Edit- landed on 3 points is correct. My bad.

I got a no grade with EGIW on a nice 3 wire last night.

I didn't touch the throttle just before touch down and then went military when I landed. I didn't back off the throttle.

The LSO reminds me of my high school math teacher. She hated me and said "I can give you any grade I want"....

Again, I can't get a passing grade out of the LSO. Track attached. EGIW 3 wire.

You’re not alone!

I’ve found the only way to avoid this is to slap it to burner right before touchdown. It’s hard to do as I find the hornet tends to want to float over the deck, so often it will result in a 4 wire or bolter.

It’s easier in the tomcat because you can use the DLC to stay on the ball when you throttle up.

wow, that's certainly a tough grade, but my question is, how in the heck are you even playing the supercarrier with the frame-rates that are being reported?

Just had this same thing happen yesterday to me.  TacView said I was at 7.9 degrees AoA at touchdown, so only 0.2 degrees less than on-speed.

Yup.  One major problem is erroneous EGIW and 3pt critiques, both of which can ding your grade down a level.  The only way to avoid them is to start a power addition a second or two before touchdown, so if you're spooled and on the ball at that point, you can choose between a nice 3 wire trap that's graded poorly, or adding power and riding it into a 4 wire or bolter in an effort to avoid the EGIW critique.  Choose wisely.  😉

Sadly the track replays end in the drink for me.

If you have short track replays showing the issue please attach them and tag me I will take a look.

thanks

I do not find the LSO easy to understand. He gives me "_OK_" from time to time, but more often than not it comes as a surprise. I am equally surprised after passes that feels perfectly safe but are graded "C". The 3PTSIW must be bugged I think.

(For reference: I have practiced DCS carrier landings and do not crash anymore, at least not for the last couple of hundred landings or so.)

Hi all,

feed back from the team,

3PTS error settled when pitch is 3 degrees or less - this means nose wheel is too low, wrong landing attitude

thanks

Just to add to this,

While the issue here is marked correct as is, we do have an issue with touch and goes and a nose down issue which maybe related, this will be addressed in a flight model review.

thanks
