I'm not sure how useful a well deck would be as I don't think there would be any way to launch landing craft from it. There is a Wasp class Mod out there that has a static open well deck door. But I could never find a way to make use of it. I though about trying to code a hover craft as a helicopter to see if I could get them to "launch" from the Wasp's open well deck but I never got around to it. But check with Hawkeye to see if he has that version of the Wasp laying around.

There is also a working HMS Fearless MOD floating around. Only problem I recall with it was a stray light or something floating in the air aft of the model

I have done a stern gate repaint of the Admiral's America,  that covers the Wasp-class Makin Island's, island very similar to America class  I mean it ain't nothing special but it works for me 😉 if the Admiral doesn't mind I'll post it for others to use... here is picky of the Iwo Jima I've done I know the islands on the earlier wasps class boats are different but for me, I can live with it.

Chap2012, I have a 3d model of the TCG Anadolu along with a Turkish escort ship. Hmm, you know I forgot Turkey is near Syria. Noted.

HighMaintenanceB, I’ve been on the lookout for the Type 075 but I can’t find a decent model of it. So about welldecks. The new San Antonio will have a welldeck installed but not sure how much you will be able to use it. If the ships were able to ballasts in water. That would make it more realistic.

Fury, NZ1781. Yes, USS America is being revamped. Beldin, has been working hard on creating deck landing spots for her. All the weapons need to be upgraded as well to make her more realistic. We also need to make sure she doesn't have any FPS issues.

I say that because when the codes don’t work properly you’re in and out of DCS testing and more testing until the mod works properly.  That takes up most of my time.

Hey Beldin, there is a way to make the welldeck gate lower and raise but that’s all it can do. The Chinese Type 071 Amphibious Transport Dock has the coding for it. It’s just a camera script used to lower and raise the gate.

So, reading all the posts there is a need for another Large Amphibious Assault Ship (Bird Farm) as we called them in the US Navy. Sounds like they are favored over most of the other Warships.  I would like to get the USS America back up to full speed before creating another Large-deck Amphibious Ship in DCS. 

The last few days I have been working to get the Iranian IRIS Alvand Class Frigate in DCS. As you can see below she’s in DCS. I’m working on coding all the weapons which as mention is a Pain sometimes.  I can tell you all from experience.  DCS game engine has its thoughts about how we code the weapons for AI Ships. The game engine will let you know right away if you coded the weapons correctly or not. So I just code one weapon at a time and go from there. I’m also working on the Amazonas Coastal Patrol as well.

Thank you all for your interest. I can hear you loud and clear. As you all know I’m a one-man shipyard so I can only do so much at one time. Thanks.

Oh I am just full of pipe dreams for DCS 😄  If I had my way I would have you slaving away for years on various ship projects... 😄   Admiral, trust me,  I am sure I can speak for everyone as well as myself, we all appreciate the hard work you do to bring us such wonderful models that enhance our enjoyment of the sim.  My only wish is that I had the skills to either join you as a contributor or work in conjunction with you as a developer.   If I ever come across a model of HMS Fearless or HMS Endurance (the latter being a superb project that would go so well for the South Atlantic map) you know where I will be sending them. 😉

Hey Central,

I hear you loud and clear. I don't understand why they created the SA Map but didn't create those mods you mentioned. They have a team of guys that could create them in no time. I think they are not a priority so it's up to us to provide them. For us loner 3D Modelers. We have our hands filled with future projects. I have enough projects to take me well into 2026. 

Fearless wouldn't be a difficult mod to create but as mentioned I don't see any 3d models out there of her. What type of ship is Endurance? I see two vessels out there with the same name.

So about contributing. I honestly only need assistance with creating Liveries every so often.  Also, deck landing spots and parking are the others especially when it comes to the big decks. Everything else has to be worked out in 3ds max. I usually send out my models for testing before release to see if I've missed something or to get another opinion about how the mods perform. As you can see I don't need much assistance. When I am focused I can complete a model in no time. Right now I'm finishing up the Iranian IRIS Alvand Class Frigate. It will be done soon.

I'm testing the capabilities of adding the Ukrainian SeaBaby and Magura V5 to DCS. So far so good if it gets close enough to the ship. WIP.

There was a model of either HMS Intrepid or Fearless on one fo the free sites but from memory it was VERY basic quality and not worth a waste of anyone's time.  I seem to remember when the original details of the SA map were released there was a model of one of them in that package, but it appears to have never been made.

I have a couple ice breakers in sim.

Perhaps the Admiral might want to take them to his ship yard for a up grade?

The HMS Endurance I was referring to was the 1967 version that served until 1991.  She was a beautiful ship, with very clean lines.

The ship CrazyEddie is showing was her replacement, thank you for posting that picture CrazyE, I had heard and read about the replacement but had not seen a photo of her before now.

HMS Endurance frequented the waters of the South Atlantic and served with absolute distinction during the 1982 SA conflict, hence I thought it would be perfect for the SA map.

I had a good look around to see if there were any 3dmax models available but there is nothing. There are a few Ice Breakers and Survey ships, of varying quality, but nothing that would double as a Brit Ice Patrol Ship as such. 

The top image Endurance was lucky to survive a serious internal flooding and was not a very popular ship to serve in, the repair costs were prohibitive so she was scrapped.  I dont know much about the middle one HMS Protector A173, only ever saw her a couple of times in Plymouth.  The 1967 version shown in Tengah's image was VERY popular ship, getting a draft in her was like winning the lottery !!!. The name Protector and Endurance have been used over many years for whatever ship we had in service down south in the ice, doubling up as the Falkland Islands Patrol ship.  They were used to support The British Arctic Survey sites on the various dependecy islands as well.

Thanks, Eddie for confirming. I saw those photos of the ships as well and I couldn't find a model of them also. Is it because the UK doesn't have the funds to save the ships or I assume they plan to replace them because they're old? 

Well if all you're looking for is an Ice Breaker. I have one. USCGC Healy. It's a low poly mod but it has good details. It does need some work as the textures are all over the place but it can be done. 

Iranian Frigate news. I'm finishing up the mod as I write this. She will be released next week. The issue with this Iranian ship is it doesn't have any air defenses but it can fight off small craft. 

Next up. Is Italy. I will create a few Italian ships as I've never created any for DCS. I will take a look at the Cavour Carrier I have to see how much work it needs. I may be able to bring it to DCS as well but it will take some time. We'll see. Stay Tunded.

The Horizon-class ships are slightly different for each country - seaforces.org  has some pretty good info on them.

Wow, I forgot the Horizon Class. That's what happens when you have too many mods to work on. I was working on the Horizon and Forbin classes at the same time last year because they are both similar but with different weapons. Same, but one has more weapons than the other.  I'm currently working on the Comandanti and Bergamini FREMM Italian frigate.  They don't have a lot of bells and whistles so they shouldn't take very long to create. All will be worked on after the release of the Iranian Class Frigate.

Afterward, I will backtrack to work on the Arg AI Ship mods. Oak Hill, San Antonio, and USS America. 

Hey Eddie, I will definitely send the textures over once I have them sorted out. It's a simple model so I may add my textures using the same texture colors if I can't make the existing textures work out. Thanks.

-- I am finishing up testing on the Hamina Class Missile Boat. She is ready for battle. I will not be creating Liveries for her.  You all are more than welcome to create liveries for her. Stay tuned for her release soon. I'm starting to like the Small Patrol Craft. Many more of them to come because we don't have many small coastal patrol boats in DCS.

The Hamina-class missile boat is a class of fast attack craft of the Finnish Navy. They are classified as "missile fast attack craft" or ohjusvene, literally "missile boat" in Finnish. The Hamina FACs are based at Upinniemi, and form the 7th Surface Warfare Squadron, part of the Finnish Coastal Fleet, together with the minelayers MLC HämeenmaaPorkkala, and Pyhäranta.

She is armed with 1x - Bofors 57 mm/70 SAK Mk3, 2x - 12.7 NSV Machine guns, 8x- Umkhonto-IR Sams and 4x - RBS-15 Mk2 (SSM) Anti-Ship Missiles.

Afterward, I will release the Rusty old container ship. I planned to release an Iranian Alvand Class Frigate along with her but I still have work to do on the Alvand class. @Admiral189, Sorry I am just getting around to this to respond.  Yes this did solve my issue.  Thank you.

Along the same lines for the Mercy class, I was looking into the textures and they seem very grainy to me.  Have you looked at rebuilding them?  If not I've taken a stab at them and I'd be happy to share the updates I did to the texture pack.  Get's rid of the graininess I see in the crosses, but it doesn't have any effects or highlights, like rust, etc.

Hey Turbine, go for it. 

Texturing has always been a WIP for me. I was thinking about this the other day while working on texturing in Substance Painter. I've been trying to understand what is good texturing. Do they need to be high resolution or Is it the metalness, normals, AO and roughness, or a combination of them all? If it's a combination of them all. How do you know you have created good textures? I'm sure you all have thought this way one way or another. Have you ever been doing something and wondering if you're doing it right 😁? Or shall I say you are doing something and you know you're not doing it correctly? 😄 But an even bigger question. Who do you ask? Just thinking out loud.

Thanks for the response.  I've attached my copy of updated textures to the Mercy class.  It's not perfect, but it removes that graininess I was seeing.

And by no means am I implying the textures were or are bad.  If it sounded that way I do apologize.  What my original goal was was to take the graininess out, and then also implement the rest of the deck area that appears to be missing when I compare the models in MV2 vs. photographs.

Texturing is also new to me too.  I'm an engineer by day, so this is well outside my comfort, ha comfort, zone.

Thanks, Turbo, no I didn't look at it like that. Texturing is texturing. I see models sold for hundreds of dollars that have terrible textures. I just SMH. The more texturing or modeling you do the better you get Turno. You have to keep at it though otherwise, you will lose your experience. No, matter how many models we create. No two can be created the same. Even if they have the same weapons. There will ALWAYS be an issue.

Ienatom, the Italian 3d models are coming. You're welcome. I appreciate it. Just trying to fill a void left in DCS.
