It's still not what I'd call good. 2.5.6 really globally broke in cockpit instrument/panel back lighting and I guess the MI-8 is just too old of a module for them to give it much attention.

And to be honest the panel lighting is still a bit dark, maybe not at night but during the day with panels in shadow. Before 2.5.6 this wasn't an issue.

Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk.

Terrains I own: South Atlantic, Syria, The Channel, SoH/PG, Marianas.

System:

GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX, AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5200 32 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070S FE, Western Digital Black SN850X 1 TB (DCS dedicated) & 2 TB NVMe SSDs, Corsair RM850X 850 W, NZXT H7 Flow, MSI G274CV.

Peripherals: VKB Gunfighter Mk.II w. MCG Pro, MFG Crosswind V3 Graphite, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

Same here,

too little effect of overhead lights and in general too dark cockpit in version 2.7.
It only gets halfway decent when the sun shines directly onto the panel.

Hope this gets fixed.

Just to be clear, your concerns are with the large overhead lights?

Hello,

My concern was primarily the consoles backlight, but I've just tested them and found that they are markedly improved, particularly the overhead consoles:

The Flood lights could be a bit more powerful, but it is much much better than what it was on 2.5.6, so please transmit my thanks to the team 🙏

Cheers,

Eduardo

They are still very dim to the point of being useless without APU GEN or main GEN power. This is not how it used to be prior to the lighting change and IMHO not how it should be. Dome lights also used to be a lot more bright actually lighting up the whole cockpit and not just the pilots' heads.

I agree, I will report this aspect.

I recently picked up the Mi-8 but I'm wondering what the status is with the lights right now? In less-than-sunny conditions the instruments are extremely hard to read and the backlights don't seem to change this at all.

At night the instruments are readable but the entire rest of the cockpit is pitch black even with the dome lights on (they really only illuminate about 30cm of the roof

First image daytime in the rain with console lights maxed out, second nighttime with console lights maxed and red dome light on

Is this still "in the works"?

Agreed

sad really. ED does not know what they have here. It is the best utility chopper around and a great chopper to hone skills.
it is my absolute favourite. But it is kind of outdated. It is not going to be better when they release an early access Chinook.

MC was added to the Mi-8 module less than a year ago.

I really try to not be affected by this kind of bull<profanity> posts, but calling a mature Module "abandonware" is honestly too much. The lighting issue was solved over a year ago and I have absolutely no trouble at all flying this helo at night on the new Kola map:

Note how the dome lights now work much better and even illuminate the pilot helmet. And on twilight hours, the internal lights keep working just fine:

I know Flappie, don't get me wrong, I know it happened less than a year ago, but IMHO having those bugs fro this longs time it's... Quite frustrating. I have been since probably 2-3 years without flying in perfect dark night, and to my surprise, the white dome lights in a complete dark night didn't light up the cockpit... That's where my frustration comes. Not even with Gamma at 3.5 I could see the white in the instruments.

Hey Eduardo! Que tal? 😉. I think it was not this dramatic nor bull<profanity> It was my honest opinion, and I say to you the same that I said to Flappie in the above, no bad vibes on that message!

I fly it with flashlight enabled.
it sort of mend the problem in a realistic way. I just put the mouse somewhere it do not compromise view when flying.
