The caging mechanism, either the one on the sight itself (mechanical) or the one on the button (magnetic) physcially moves the parts inside the gunsight responsible for projecting the dot and circle in different spot. So when caging/uncaging the sight we should see the movement instead of the sight jumping to a different location in an instant.

For example when you release the magnetic cage in the middle of the turn, the sight should move from the centre to the stable deflected position, with some delay or inertia, not just magically teleport to the edge of the screen.

The magnetic cage is more like a damper that is intended to prevent the sight from excessive movement during manoeuvres, so the pilot can resume aiming immediately after he gets into a stable firing position. At least that's how it works according to the real MiG-21 manual that has similar feature.

When using buttons to increase/decrease the wingspan fine control is impossible. It jumps by metres at a time per button press.

Using mousewheel works fine

Yes,I noticed this too,you can't get the wingspan required accurately using the buttons bound to this command,as Random states, only using the mousewheel works,so please fix Razbam.

When using the wheelbrakes, there is no sound of air release,as we have previously had with the MiG-15 and MiG-21 modules.

Is this how it should be,or should there be a sound, having never witnessed the real thing it's hard to know how it should be......can anyone confirm it's real life operation/sound if any ?

Similar system as in the MiG-15 or the MiG-21. The sound is pretty much default at the moment. This simply has to be added for a credible full fidelity module. By the way: I found there is also no sound when the cannon are being pneumatically loaded. There should be something similar to the MiG-15's cannon loading sound.

1) Common nouns, compound modifiers and verbs must not be in capital, in English. So we write "Thank you for your purchase, we hope you enjoy flying the module" and not "Thank you for your Purchase, we hope you enjoy Flying the Module". I think the author was confusing German typography and English, this error is present throughout most of the manual.

2) page 79, Cockpit Inspection, step 3: "Fire Control Trigger is in it's Safe Position", there is no verb here (hint: you can't say "is in it is safe position") , it's a determiner so the correct syntax is "in its safe position".

Ok,I have found a video where you an actually hear the sound of the pneumatic air hiss as the wheelbrake lever is released.

I know this video is of a MiG-15,but the system is almost identical to the MiG-19,listen as the pilot releases the wheelbrake lever, starting at about 6:28 into the video, the sound is then heard several times,as he taxis to the main runway, every time he release the wheelbrake lever.

There is a caption that comes up on screen too,'Pneumatic brakes !,vents nitrogen out' informing the viewer obviously, what the sound was being heard in the video.

This IMHO is exactly what we should be hearing on release of the wheelbrake lever, just as we have heard previously with the Mig-15 and MiG-21 modules, this is missing from our MiG-19 at present.

So it would be very nice if our friends at RAZBAM could implement this sound into the MiG-19 module for us,thanks.

Yes, I've noticed that too. But then I thought that would require almost rewriting the whole thing. Not really worthy of doing so as long as it's just capital and small letters, but you're right.

Shouldn´t the ASP-5 sight reticle move downwards if a certain angle depression is selected by the associated rotary wheel? That is the sense behind the system for shooting rockets or dropping bombs. Just like in the MiG-21 or the L-39, for example. However, during a short AG training mission I just noted it does not move at all which is obviously a bug or the system is not properly implemented.

I have critical problem with tuning in VR. As I am using mouse as a center point of my view, when i look right on the ARK5. use button as left mouse click on the handle and then look left to tune the ark it increases very low - this way i could move my head like 10x times from one side to another, the second problem with it is, that I can´t physiologically tune clockwise, because when i have my head pointed right, i cant move it even more right, right ? :-)

With this, there is problem that when i have scroll mapped on stick as well, the ARK does not react. The animation of handle is made but not a tune move.

With mouse scroll, it only works when i scroll fast, when slowly just by one click, it does nothing - even another slowly scrolls doesnt help. Should be handled by setting the scroll lines in system, but thats not way how this should be treated. It will worse other scrolls.

Opposite to this problem is when i scroll click once on setting wingspan or angle on ASP. it moves by 4 meters. there its hypersensitive on a low number scale. While od ARK on scale from 640-1300 it is very low and no senstive at all.

currently this making tuning ADF in VR for me unbearable, even when active pause or on the ground. The neck starts to pain before i make the tune from one end to another. In different modules its perfectly controlable by scroll button on stick. And using left mouse click (on stick) and moving sight from side to side once for a big increase/decrease.

I give it a try to set lines to scroll by mouse in Win 10 setings. Had 3 lines (Default) will try to adjust, and report back.

Results:

not a change on either stick use or mouse scroll use when i tripled the lines.

Now that you mention this I was doing the navigation training and almost crashed several times trying to find the right frequency. It's difficult to see what frequency you are on and the scroll behavior for slow scroll does indeed take a really long time. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be like that or not.

I ended up flying in circles because finding frequency 662 was a bit difficult. Trying to tune it slowly wasn't doing anything and moving the mouse scroll wheel quickly was actually moving the frequency but I was skeptical that I was on the right one because I was just going by looks of the signal needle.

I also fly in VR so unfortunately without looking at the dial it will be difficult to tell which frequency you are on but having a bind to lower and increase frequency for example with a hat switch may be useful.

Bomb Fuse Switch Not Bindable

The Bomb Fuse switch has no binding to it,it is only operable by the clickable cockpit, would it be possible to make this switch bindable please ?

Be prepared to have your thread closed...

I reported missing bindings for course and altimeter knobs and my thread was closed as "missing bindings are already reported, use the search function next time" even though the only missing binding I found into the Bug section is for nosewheel brake.

I always fly in simulation. Looks like the gear lock do nothing when the aircraft is off, it permit to pull up the gear level. But after you turn on the aircraft it works ok

Posted

Oh really ?......Ok,thanks for the warning then,if that's true it's a pity,I don't want to make a fuss, just to inform of an operation that could be made easier,by having this switch bindable.

This switch is right down at the bottom of the centre console and is a right pain to locate and switch on with the joystick blocking it's path.

Much better then,if you can bind it and have it to hand when your carrying out your bomb run.

Yeah, there are quite a few missing bindings, surely razbam will fix them :)

EDIT: may be it will be good if they stick one thread with missing bindings where everyone will post what he finds for a complete list

The Frequency Fine Tuning Handle of the ARK-5P does not correctly move with the mouse wheel.

Sometime no movement and then suddenly jumps.

I noticed the same issue.

I agree, I wouldn't take the trouble of redoing it. It's just for information, perhaps for the next manual. If anything, I found that funny :)

I haven't read it entirely but overall, the quality is very good. I appreciate the history, variants and operational history at the end, it's a nice touch. The Russian translation is also welcome, for general culture but also to spot the labels with the Russian cockpit.

The only improvements I'd see at this stage:

1) indicate which way to rotate for some of the valves (oxygen, emergency landing gear deployment, emergency flaps deployment).

2) indicate more clearly the positions for some switches (gunsight cage/uncage for ex).

3) there are some tables, but overall not much in terms of performance. I was expecting at least the classical fuel consumption vs temperature and pressure altitude, the take-off and landing distance and/or rolling length vs runway state and pressure altitude, maybe also rate of turn and so on.

It's almost nit-picking since it's a flight manual and not a reference. From some of Razbam's posts, we also know that not all data were available, and finally, manuals were more succinct back then, it was probably the case of the MiG-19 too.

Hello,

Originally it was made to be switched between the three positions using the mouse cursor, and to go automatically to NEUTRAL if you use the G key on the keyboard.

As per many users requests we may give the G key a toggle function between the three positions, but we need to discuss this first.

There´s not too much data available explaining how this system works, so at first we decided to disable the target indication in the AR-18-8 sight to make it work like a regular radar rangefinder. We are researching more into this feature.
