I've noticed this in the F-16 that I can't communicate with anyone in missions that are transmitting over VHF. At first, I thought it was something that I was doing when I was setting up my own missions in M.E., but this is happening in Georgia Hammer also.

I'm using a Warthog throttle and have UHF programmed down and VHF programmed up, and have no problem with UHF.

Am I the only one, or is this a known bug?

Thanks for any help.

Yea I'm manually entering the frequency, I'm putting the frequency in the presets and using the presets, and I'm programming the frequency in the presets and punching in the actual preset, 124.00 in ch3 and hitting 3, ENT. Like every combo in the DCS and TO manual

Is easy comms on? Does the white text say "VHF Radio AN/ARC-222" when you press the comm switch in the VHF direction?

I tried contacting Batumi VHF AM tower with both manual frequency and by ME and pilot-defined preset channel all with success.

VHF radio is not able to be set to utilize the VHF FM band. No UFC input can change between AM and FM modulation or between AM guard and FM guard. Data entry in the preset frequency is incompatible with the FM band. It is possible to input FM band in primary frequency field but the radio is unable to contact an agency on the entered frequency.

Looks like you are putting in UHF frequencies. VHF by definition is 30 MHz to 300 MHz. 400 is in the UHF range.

Com 1 is UHF only, Com 2 is VHF only.

Hi,

we will check the frequency range and get back to you, but it looks like it is an invalid frequency in your track.

thanks

If a "lower VHF" frequency is entered into the VHF/Comm 2 radio, the radio will automatically use FM, when switching to the "upper VHF" freqs, such as those used by aviation ATC, the radio will automatically use AM.  I've spent plenty of missions not only talking to JTACS and other players on VHF-FM freqs, like 30.00 FM, or 36.75 FM, but also setting some of the F-16 comm presets in the mission editor to those freqs as well.

Tuning options for COMM 1/UHF radio: 225.000-399.975 MHz AM (with up to 20 presets)
Tuning options for COMM 2/VHF radio: 116.000-155.975 MHz AM and 30.000-87.975 MHz FM (with up to 20 presets)

Don't know if it is related but I had similar problems with contacting a tanker with the Viper. I worked around with turning off the Com1 radio by turning down it's Vol.-knob on the left console. Guess I had easy comms on.

Check to make sure the VHF button on your Warthog is not binding to another command...

i.e. remove the binding from VHF, then hit the same button agian to see if it goes to another keybind.

I am putting in 40.40 MHz FM for Batumi ATC. If you look in mission editor you will see that COM2 will take the VHF AM band 108-156 MHz and VHF FM band 30-88 MHz. I entered my preset #1 in the mission editor as 40.40 MHz FM.

I think it's a simpler problem; I checked out the F10 map and didn't see any a/C that could fit the AWACS role, so my guess is that it didn't spawn in those chapters. The JTAC or AWACS, both of which are broadcasting off VHF stations.

hmmm....so it's not wanting to work in the FM range
