Until now the solution was to find the control definition file DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Input\FA-18C\joystick\default.lua and insert your custom command somewhere inside of it, if you weren't using a mod manager then every time the game was updated your change would be erased and you'd need reinsert your commands into the files for every aircraft you changed.

Hey there everyone, DCS no longer seems to use this Mods\aircraft\ structure so I'm at a bit of a loss following the installation instructions. All my plane configs are in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input (scratch this, I found the folder in the main game folder)

I've put the input commands here \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\InputCommands

None of the commands seem to show up when I look for them in a search, I've confirmed folder names match those above.

Scratch the question, leave post here for others who hit what I did.

OVGME setup I put my "config" folder to my Saved Games location, needed to be the root of DCS over in Program Files.

Happy you solved it. When all else fails, have a look at the instructions.
Cheers!

What folder name do we use for the F-4E in Inputcommands?  Tried a few, but no luck.

I worked it out, and it's 'InputCommands\F-4E\Input\F-4E-Pilot' and 'InputCommands\F-4E\Input\F-4E-WSO'!

Thanks!

Do you have an initial input file with any of the binds you've created you can share?

I won't get time to setting mine up until the weekend, but would be great if can start with something.

cheers

Should be no problem. He can re-name your .diff.lua file to match his device names. If he hasn't got a file for his device(s) he just needs to create one bind (could be a dummy) per device. That was nonsense.

I’m confused. He can rename the diffs, but the button numbers etc. will be meaningless, surely?

I think there's misunderstanding.

I thought you were creating/building some initial community keybinds lua files for the F-4E since you mentioned the InputCommands folder, these lua files just define what you can bind with ANY device.

Your specific devices are in a different folder and get bound after that separately.

The purpose of the Quaggles input command injector and Munkwolf community keybinds is to add binds that didn't exist before. What users do with their hardware against these is really trivial in comparison and not something that we need to share really.

I managed to get some time today and created an initial template, with a few binds added:

  • HSI Heading slow and very slow options
  • HSI Course slow and very slow options
  • Reticle Depression slow and very slow
  • WSO aspect switch added to the front seat

Sorry, you're correct, we went off on the wrong tack! I'm fully aware of what the mod does. I was just posting the needed path to the commands folder as it wasn't obvious a few days ago, and we went wrong from there! The commands I tend to add are ones I created mainly for me to use on specific devices, e.g. radio commands on my TM F-16 MFDs, so they probably wouldn't be useful to you anyway.

No worries 🙂

I like to see many commands, because I got the home cockpit thing happening here with UFC, MFDs, button boxes etc.

Very thankful to Heatblur on this release, they have added so many useful binds already. Much easier to work with than other releases like the Harrier or the Mirage F1.

Tried your binds, but whenever I make an adjustment to the Heading or Course knob valeues, e.g. change 'value_pressed' to 0.00100, the bind disappears from DCS.

Any ideas?

Disappears from the config binds menu?

That's really strange. Are you using it with Quaggles input command injector?

Got a screenshot before and after?

I was just flying in Flashpoint levant, and using the Heading bind. Wasn't looking in the config menu but it's been working across a few flights.

Also by the way, Heatblur dev said he will add the HSI hdg, crs, and the sight elevation into the next patch

Yep, I started the thread on this on the F-4E forum. I took the devs advice and made the edits he suggested. They work well. Well, I say work well, but using the slow option also slows down the rotation speed when holding the switch.  It is unusable.  So, it means I have to have 8 binds for CRS/HDG instead of 4 which is pretty annoying.

I did ask him why it worked OK in the Hornet, but I didn't really understand his reply.
