Makes no sense that the circles don't have to be concentric.  It ensures that's you're looking parallel to the long axis of the of the aircraft (the bore in this case).

If you guys are saying it doesn't need to be done then theoretically you could put your head anywhere it'd fit in the cockpit and look at the boresight tube and think you're boresighted.

I get everything centered and concentric every time and my cannon is very accurate.

Edit: This affects the FLIR too.  Boresight it properly and you can watch seemless transitions of buildings from visible to lowlight image under you.  Don't do it right there is a noticeable offset.

Hi Buschwick,

when you say 'everything centered', do you mean physically IRL- so that you are looking straight down the scope, or figuratively (as in something(s) you do inside DCS)?

Have a good flight

What is you are struggling with the boresighting process?

I have the same problem from the day it came out. I always aim a little bit to the right and a little bit down. Works perfect. I'm using htc vive pro btw...

Id like to know how do you exactly get concentric rings for a "good alignment". Do you sit in your natural posture in a chair then look down the barrel of the tube? Do you slouch over to get a better view down the tube? Do you adjust your seat position down to get a better view down the tube?

Which way is the correct way???? Its ALWAYS off for me in VR.

Either adjust your seat, slouch, or use RCtrl+RShift+NUMPAD keys. If I'm in the CPG seat I usually just slouch and find the proper position, in the pilot seat I don't really need to do much except maybe bring my head forward a bit.

and is it accurate?

In VR I always slouch a bit and move my head to get in proper position. Works good fir me and alignment is fine for new.

I let IHADDS render only in right eye in VR.

so do you sit right back up in your natural position afterwards?

Yes

so how come when I do that, its always off?? I can stare straight down that tube and get 3 perfect rings evenly spaced apart and its always off. Hell, even if I adjust my seat position to eye level with the tube its still off.

Are you lining up the HDU LOS with the dot in the middle of the circle as well?

Kinda pointless not to do so...unless this was fixed in the last few patches, its been a while since Ive flown no hot start missions so Ill try again later.

Well I find that the default head position of the pilot is okay for Boresighting. With the CP/G it's off, no matter of I move my head I cannot get into a position for Boresighting. And therefore have to resort to translating my head which leads to the next problem. You have to assign some of your "precious buttons" to this. In VR your keyboard is more or less inaccessible since I cannot see it. Trying ot feel your way to the Right Control + Right Shift + whatever-keypad-key is really frustrating.

What I mean by "precious buttons" is the buttons of your joystick and throttle. Those will probably to be bound to the TEDAC controls for the CP/G

Just as we have a special option to show the monocle or not, there could be an option to have the IHADSS aligned or not on cold starts.

Index user here. Mine was off centered to the right on "both eyes". Had to change to right eye only for it to be almost perfect.

..you remember those 3D pictures from a while ago where you had to look at them crosseyed to see the images? aligning the IHADDS in both eyes is essentially done the same way. Not my place to tell ppl how to fly their apache with one eye open, so Ill refrain from any red panties jokes....

What are you on about? I fly with both eyes open, the ihadds just only shows in the right eye, which is fine because its not hard to still see or aim. Also had to use one eye NVGs while I was in the Army, do you really think I just kept one eye open? lol. My comment was only used to inform others that if you run into the issue of the Ihadds being off in VR, what worked for me was to display it in one eye.

Im using a Rift S and with right eye render only the boresight is pretty straight forward but I dont like how it feels to use only right eye render, when set to both eyes tho, boresights becomes a guess game....
