I run vsync on in Varjo Based forced to 45 fps, no motion smoothing.

You might give that a try. I do not get noticeable stutters unless fps drops below 45 fps which is very rare for me running eye tracked DFR.

Interesting @dburne I’ve never tried this myself.  Mind if I ask how/where you “set” your frame rate to 45 fps?  I did a quick DCS forum search and some mention doing it nVidia settings, some mention a setting in autoexec.cfg and I thought I recalled there might be a way to do it in the OpenXR toolkit.  Or is this a Varjo Base setting?

You set that in VB.  It is the V-sync option setting.  Same place you select motion smoothing (which I use contrary to Dburne)

Yes Varjo software.

Hey Guys,

does anyone out there reach solid 90fps on ground level at Marinas yet? (My rig: 13900/4090/Aero/DFR/DLSS)

Looks like it is still CPU limited. Do you have the same experience? Just want to confirm my basic setup is working.

Background: I'm running nice gfx settings, the only way to archive higher results is to turn down everything that us related to cpu usage. Like scenery, trees etc. to squeeze out a few more fps.

(Any complex scripted Mission will totally kill it down to 20fps. Talking about decent ones above.)

Not on ground level.

I can get 90 fps but only in the air and outside of congested areas, and definitely not at max settings.  DLSS doesn't help much in CPU limited situations, with heavily scripted missions the best bet would be locked 45 fps setting for smooth gameplay.

Alright back up and flying after a few weeks due to remodel of my home office and adjacent rooms. I had my entire sim-pit covered to prevent dust and my Aero back in the box in a safe space.

Just did a quick flight out of Nellis to check that systems were operational after 2.9 upgrade and no issues thankfully.

So what is everyone running under the new settings or are you just leaving things set as usual?

Cheers 🍻

I have my Varjo Aero a couple of weeks now, although I never had a ‘comfortable’ headset, I find the Aero even more uncomfortable than my Reverb G2 or Index.

It seems like I have to choose between pressure on my forehead or on my nose, if I want to release the pressure I have to loosen the head strap too much which makes it unstable on my head. With other headset I had a more equal divided pressure on my face.

I also bought the comfort mod from studio form, it doesn’t make any difference.

Maybe somebody has had similar experiences at first and found a solution?

I myself found a huge difference with the comfort strap, no problem wearing mine for hours. And I do.

Everyone's head shape can be different, and I am sure plays a big role in this.

Very true, headshape plays a big part in it. I am also using the Creative Apache strap and feel next to nothing on my face. I do need to get it set well and not have too much angle cranked into those side adjusters though.. Mine are one click down from the top setting..

That is typically where mine sets, one click down. If I do two it leaves marks on my face and my wife laughs at me lol.

I can relate to your posts about the head strap.

I also use one click down.

When I am flying casually I use a more loose setup and move the hmd from time to time back into position to enjoy the comfort plus.

If I am on a combat mission I use a tighter two click down setup and also suffer the face marks 🙂 That way I can turn my head hectically in all directions and still enjoy the frenzy.

I've had my Aero for 2 weeks now and I can say that I'm very much enjoying the performance.  I started with a Quest 2, then Reverb G2, then Quest Pro, and now the Aero... and I can say without any hesitation whatsoever that it is head and shoulders above all of those from a performance perspective.  But it is the bottom of the pile in overall comfort. (For MY melon, the Globular Cluster kit for the Quest Pro wins the prize)

My Doctor likes to joke that even though I'm past the half-century mark, I still have the skin of a teenager. Meaning that my skin really does not like to be in contact with some materials for any length of time... especially things like 'pleather'. In the past, the first thing I did was order a fabric-based facial interface. Come on Varjo, for the price you charge for your interfaces, a mesh option would be very considerate. 😉

I found that one of the mesh interfaces for my Quest 2 can replace the interface pretty easily, although the Q2 is more oval than the Aero and it doesn't quite line up. Does anyone know of another one that might fit better?

I have not found anyone that makes anything for it, at all.  Studioform makes the velcro strap and counterweights that go on the existing headstrap, but that doesn't alter the mechanical aspects of the strap system itself.

I get that it's a niche product in a niche category, but the utter lack of 3rd party accessories for the Aero is definitely the biggest downside to consider when weighing a potential purchase.

I'm currently pretty happy with DLSS Quality, sharpness 0.2, technicolor 3.   DLSS does a pretty good job of eliminating shimmering if your sharpness setting is not too high.  The performance is the best so far vs prior releases with the combination of DLSS and dynamic foveation (90 fps in most freeflights).  The new graphic update adds a lot of options to play with, almost too many, but that's good.  Still have to try manual DLSS settings as well as using newer DLSS version (DCS currently uses 3.5.0).

Can a few people check NVIDIA's NIS option (sharpening via NVIDIA control panel)?  I think it works in VR now especially with DLSS, better than in DCS setting I think.

Hi. When using DLSS and eyetracing I get text in the lower left view that follows my eyes. It's really annoying. The text states something about rendering and resolution. About 4 lines of text. Annyone know how to remove this?

Edit: The text is also visible on the 2D screen/image, you can see the text in the bottom left. I'm currently not using any mods.

Thanks!Screen_231029_180454.png

UPDATE:

Found a post with a guide to turn off the text. It's done in the registry. Like this:

Datamaskin\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NGXCore

Change the value of ShowDlssIndicator to 0

Thats it!

Can you take a screen shot of it?  Could it be from a 3rd party mod with screen overlay on?  Are you using OXRTK?

I've been eyeballing the Aero again.  Been wanting to replace my G2, after upgrading my rig to a 13900K.  (Already have the 4090 and 64GB RAM).

Been pleased with DCS 2.9 and the OpenXR (toolkit) path with the Reverb.

I'm not in the ecosystem, so I know I'll need at least one base station?  With the price cut, it seems pretty tempting.
