ARM505 Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Much better. It's always going to be dark, being black of course, but everything stands out as much as one would expect. Good job. 2
HiWeee Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 I didn't see any difference from previous version in VR mode. 1 Inte 12700KF/ 32GB@3600MHz/ RTX2080/ 2T NVMe /Hp Reverb G1

In my perception, it is better. It‘s still a dark cockpit and depending on daylight and shadows sometimes hard to see switches in certain places. But in comparison it‘s become a lot better. The industry standard calibrated gamma is 2.2, to calibrate the screen you can use reference images and tables, like: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ P.S. Anyway DCS uses hollywood nights and have a gamma value mess for different rendered layers; DCS needs a good director of photography Edited September 3, 2022 by riojax 2
Hiob Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 (edited) Yes, I said „reasonable“, not „Perfect“. Also, it is true that we don‘t know how exactly this setting translates to the effective gamma and that we need to take into account the monitor settings. What I meant is, that 2.2 is not too far off the default setting and probably not enough to completely mess up the picture. Anyway - ceteris paribus, there is a noticeable improvement with the latest patch (in pancake). If it is sufficient is a matter of personal taste/perception. On all other modules - everything is fine (with dark cockpits). Problem in F1... I wish it was even lighter. MAXsenna Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I should probably calibratemy screen. Night should be pitch black, and if I turn up from 1.6, night becomes dusk. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk 1
Loukuins Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Pretty nice, I don't have any complains rn, Gamma at 2.0 and looks usable at any time of the day, still the issue of the sun that has a big white circle around it sadly... 1 My Setup : i5-4690 3.50GHz + 24GB RAM DDR3 1600MHz + MSI RTX 2060 Super Ventus OC + 2 SSD + 4 HDD + Oculus Rift CV1 + TM T.16000M Hotas Super Etendard for Life !

Yes, but this is a bug introduced on DCS 2.x when they added the new lighting; if you dislike it open a bug report to ED, but it's irrealistic to think that a dirty workarround (gamma below 2.2) must to be followed by users and developers. P.S. I understand you, I opened a bug report about that some years ago, but sadly zero response.

Hiob Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 With the 2.8 patch, the cockpit darkness issue is completely solved for me. Looks perfect now. I can see the battery switch e.g. easily!
