Here's another benchmark over Beirut with presets LOW-MED-HIGH, I know it is not the best for fine-tuning performance, but it does make it easier for everyone to check how their system is performing. I´ve shared the tracks used in my benchmarks (I hope they still work). Links are in the video description.

They've opened the Beta program to more 4090 owners, so head over to the Discord, DM Arch and return the supplied NDA, and you'll get the fixed beta of VB. No more stutters

Thanks Zildac, I'm up to date on everything and on Discord since April 22. When they asked for betatesters I couldn't sign up on time and they don't accept anymore. I DM Arch 1 week ago but got no reply. In any case this morning he said that if all goes well by the end of the day we will have good news.

It appears that they are accepting 4090 owners onto the beta program again specifically with a view to providing the fixed VB version, this was as of about an hour ago...

And another newer feature is 'resisable bar". 
All new features are probably bad for DCS. 

 

Thanks AirMeister. It is a problem recognized by Varjo that has nothing to do with HAGS or ReBAR. We are already testing a hot fix that fixes the problem but they are still working on a final public version.

There is a bug with flat shadows in Open Beta 2.8 The issue has been identified by ED and a fix is in the making.

Maybe that's why there is a little less performance in 2.8 than in 2.7

Leaving aside the performance hit, which I'm sure they'll fix in the next few days, I'm amazed at the raindrops sliding down the cockpit in VR.

Hi Guys, I am interested in replacing my venerable 1080Ti, with a 4090 or a 7900XT, and for that I already upgraded the case and PSU (Seasonic prime 1000W and Phanteks P600S with some extra unicorn fans  ) to make sure I have enough watts and room to install the beast.

What is the best trustworthy online store that you would recommend to purchase those from? I live in south of Europe.

I know there's a waiting line but the local stores put a nice 1K premium markup over MRSP, and I can't be bothered with that. Thx in advance!

The rest of system specs are:

Mainboard: ASUS crosshair VI Hero (chipset X370)

CPU: AMD 5950X 16 core processor

RAM: Gskill Trident Z RGB 32MB (4X8GB) running 3600Mhz CAS14

 

Future upgrade in mind: 4K HDR1000 monitor (hence my interest in a top tier card)

No real advises for shops, but are you aware of the fact that for the 7900X you'll need a new mobo and new ram too? 

If the rig is mainly designed for flight simming I would wait for the X3D series. AMD didn't do any good with the 7000 series so far. 

But after all, it your choice. No intent to convince you

As for shops, you could have a look at proshop and alza. But I don't know how good the customer service is. I know they are at least rather cheap. Ldlc is also a huge retailer from France. But again, I have never ordered something from them (and it could be, that it's France only), but they did have some fair prices for the RTX 4090.

This is about what I noticed going from a 2080Ti to a 3090. You dont get significantly better FPS but you get lots of overhead so you can turn up your visual settings and pixel density. In the end you get way better clarity and visuals at about the same FPS you had before. Usually the overall performance is more consistent less stutter. My goal was to set graphics setting that gave me about 80 to 90 GPU utilization. Not surprised that nothing has changed with the 40 series.  Better graphics at about the same FPS. I wonder how much vulkan and multi core will change things if that ever happens?

my experience with the 4090 is (coming from 3080): for jet's i can now run high settings instead of VR for almost the same FPS (in air 90, suppercarrier 65), there is a big difference for low level heli flying, this was almost impossible to get 45 fps on the 3080. Now level straight flight 90 and lots of turns over city's +- 68.

This is al in VR with the valve index, all in all i find it more progres from 3080 to 4090 then when i upgraded from a 2080ti to 3080.

Overhead.

The DX11 API cannot process the draw commands fast enough to feed the RTX4090's GPU, so Usage and FPS Drop.

yeh i really dont like how similer the cpu and gpu names are either

I tested my 4090 yesterday on a few Quickstart Missions. Oh boy. 2560x1440 with 2x MSAA AND 2x SSAA combined can still hold 120 fps (this is where I set my fps limit). And this is with my weak old 9900K.

I guess everything is really fine as soon as I make the jump to the 13700K with DDR5 (planned early next year). And I don't have to worry to make the jump to 4K anymore. If you have the money and can find one... well, it is great. You shure don't need it, but I can tell you that it is so nice ^^

And the best thing is its power consumption. If you don't need the full power, it will shrink itself in power consumption. You wouldn't expect that from a card that is that powerfull, but it works quite good. If I play somewhat dated games like Battlefield, it only takes 150-180W - even less than my 3080 I had before.
