BaD CrC Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 We paid a lot more for the download version. Why is it cheaper to have the DVD + printed manual? https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
ED Team JimMack Posted January 17, 2009 ED Team Posted January 17, 2009 We paid a lot more for the download version. Why is it cheaper to have the DVD + printed manual? The printed manual is not with the DVD Retail version. Only the printed Quickstart manual. Having problems? aledmb Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 The printed manual is not with the DVD Retail version. Only the printed Quickstart manual. that still doesn't explain why it's cheaper. i feel like i have been fooled here. :(
Nate--IRL-- Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 that still doesn't explain why it's cheaper. i feel like i have been fooled here. :( The retailer dictates the price point I'd imagine. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
aledmb Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 i'm not saying that $39 is too low. i'm saying that $50 is too high, considering download versus dvd costs. EDIT: i don't mean it's not worth the $50 i paid. ok?
PoleCat Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Lets see....10 bucks more to have DCS Black Shark weeks earlier then the store release. Which IMHO was a great gift to an anxious community. Sounds more then fair to me. Out 2 http://www.104thphoenix.com/
IIIJG11 Reaper Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Well I am happy to have paid 50 bucks for this long awaited games,,,sure beats the 100 odd bucks for FPS Titles made by the big developers...Well done ED...
Scif Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 yep no problem paying the $50 here, i am happy to have this great sim 3 months earlier than most. aledmb Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Lets see....10 bucks more to have DCS Black Shark weeks earlier then the store release. Which IMHO was a great gift to an anxious community. Sounds more then fair to me. weeks earlier means dollars earlier. i think no one here is making charity. but i don't understand the difference in the prices. btw, i'm not gonna die 'cause i paid 10 bucks more.
_Hoss Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Price is driven by demand, everyone was foaming at the mouth for the game in any form or fashion. Droves of you bought the Russian version if you could figure out how to get past the language barrier, and then turned around and bought the English version when it came out. And I'll bet you will also go out and buy the DVD when it hits the shelf if you have not pre-ordered it already. When demand is high, you can pretty much set your own price. Its the same principle as classic cars, how much is one really worth?......what ever someone will pay for it. I can hear P.T. Barnum now.................. There's a sucker born every minute...:megalol:...... But I will go out and get it when it hits the self, I'm not too high on pre-orders........... especially when so many stores and business are going out of business.......... :bye_3: Sempre Fortis
BaD CrC Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 It's just that I was expected around the same price for the boxed version. Oh well, dollar is so weak these days that it doesn't matter.... https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
fox_111 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I don't mind paying the 60$CAN and then some I paid for the download. But I'd expect a DVD copy at a discount. I won't pay 40$ for a DVD when I already got the game.
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I got Russian version and then English and will buy CD as well. How much is all of that together? Little more then a $100 for entertainment I will have for several years. Not bad at all if you ask me ... ericinexile Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) Not commenting to anyone in particular. How can one complain that he got a product he wanted at a price he felt to be fair at the time of purchase? I happily bought the RU version and then the EN version less than two weeks later. ED have understandably capitalized on the high anticipation this game generated. But since each one of us feels that he is on a first-name basis with Wags, I'm guessing that Nobody at ED is making a fortune no matter how many copies we buy. I say--wish them all the success in the world. Whatever they can do to generate an honest profit and continue making the best sims available on a PC is worth a little premium from us "early adopters". RockStar Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I have the download, and it's still the best $50 Ive spent in a long time... ;) Rock on, be strong!

uhoh7 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 that still doesn't explain why it's cheaper. i feel like i have been fooled here. :( it's ten bucks less, next year it'll be down to 29.99. Then you can really feel fooled. E8600 Asus P5E Radeon 4870x2 Corsair 4gb Velociraptor 300gb Neopower 650 NZXT Tempest Vista64 Samsung 30" 2560x1600
geogob Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I feel so silly. I paid quake 3 arena $60 back then. I could buy it for $5.99 now. ;) No, seriously, I don't feel bad about this. It won't include any more documentation AND we got it way faster. Early adopters always pay a premium, regardless if it's a game or hardware. That's nothing new. On the other hand, If you were not sure about BS because of the price tag, now you know you just have to wait a few months to get a better price... obviously.
aledmb Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 sorry everyone. again, i'm not discussing the price. i'm talking about download vs. box costs. after all, when i buy something, i'm not there to help someone, i'm there to pay what's fair, independently of how good that can be. so, i'm happy with the price! thanks ED!
