I want the highest tech Chinook I can get. I want my big WHOMP-WHOMP-WHOMP to have all the fancy MFDs and gadgets available.

I wouldn't mind a prehistoric Chinook, but I want the modern one more.

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

I was at one time dreaming about Vietnam map. F4 , Mig 19, Mig 21 Huey and Chinook.
Getting a glass pit Chinook ruined that picture, and wags said they do not have map technology for big rivers and water and altitude but at one time they get there.
Skyriders Thuds and all that. Some cool music. @Beirut don’t tell me that doesn’t sound cool

That sounds very! cool.  And I'd buy that if it was available. But I also want all the shiny tech toys and sparkly MFDs I can get. And a glass pit Chinook with night vision and all the funky navigation stuff, that sounds like fun to me.

Will this basic functionality come with the Chinook release?

You can already have infantry loaded at mission start. For vehicles though, we'd first need the ability to embark them in the first place. Once we can embark vehicles (which functionally shouldn't be too difficult - they're both the same category of unit after all, though volume and mass constraints might need to be further developed), we should be able to have them embarked at mission start like we now can with infantry.

I actually didn't realise until  recently that you couldn't mission start with a helo transporting cargo slung beneath until I tried to add that to a mission I was designing!  I've kinda  given up on ME improvement suggestions as I don't believe that the most basic omissions will be addressed in my lifetime - not because I think ED is lazy, simply because these omissions would take an inordinate amount of time and if the work doesn't generate revenue, in the short or long term. it is low priority.

Doesn't make it any better than what the F variant for DCS would be.

Side note: why are DAFCS native modes not even getting done at release? seriously...who gave the green light for this thing.

To me, latest information made it less interesting mostly because its logistics purpose is not met. But I keep my mouth shut until I test it. I honestly do not know what to expect

At early access launch the trim will work in a basic way, move it to desired position, press button and this becomes centre. Its a pretty standard concept for trim.
Proper trim using dafcs modes will be added later during early access development.

Please remember this is going to be early access, there will be active development after launch. If early access does not suit you it is ok to wait, we understand early access does not suit everyone.

thank you

I've been having fun loading static objects into the cargo during testing, its a lot of fun, so yes please wait until you can try it out, I think you will enjoy. More logistics work will continue during early access.

The DAFCS has nothing to do with the magnetic break or CD release function, to my knowledge.

I know how force trim works, so what you said is completely useless, with all due respect. It's the DAFCS native modes that we won't be getting iirc.

Correct, not the DAFCS modes, they will come later, but I dont think it will stop you enjoying the CH-47F at early access launch.

thank you

I am glad to hear it, I admit I enjoyed the Kiowa very much, more than expected. But logistical work and civil flying is what I prefer.
I am looking forward to it

It is going to be a lot of fun for sure. In my time in the forces in my youth Ive jumped on and off a few, and also trained as a rigger / marshaller doing sling loads and troop embarking, so it has a special place in my heart.

Kind of a hot potato this. The more anticipation, the more feelings. A lot of people waiting for this. And it gets pretty hot.

The hype is real for sure, I will start sharing social media posts later today and more as we approach the planned launch day on the 3rd July.

thanks

Will there be new static units to do the Sling? I bought the Ch-47 and I have this question. Thanks.

Sounds to me as if you're already very knowledgeable regarding flight assist modes.

I've been reading about the chinook a lot more since ED announced it.

The impression I get with regard to things like dafcs is they make flying the F version 'easy'. So much so that instructor pilots transitioning new recruits were noticing a drop in piloting skills.

It's stability and assist for approach & hover modes reduce the flying to a 'bump trim' affair. Allowing brown out landings with (relative) ease. It is increadible technology.

Getting this correct is no doubt very complicated to simulate and simultaneously reproduce on the mfds, (which I'm sure you know) become the pilots pure reference point as they go "inside only"

No excuses made here. I'm happy to see how things are before all the toys arrive, which in all honesty could make things feel a little sterile and flat.

Happy to be involved in EA testing.

All the best.....

I'm already very well aware of this. You don't have to be knowledgeable on the DAFCS of the CH-47F to know that we are not getting native modes of the DAFCS on release.

This is kind of false. We are getting it. Just not now. If this is to hard to swallow , you just don’t install it until it got it.
