Totally exceeded my expectations!  London is excellent, and the density of Paris is stunning.  Within the first hour I flew through the London Bridge, buzzed Windsor Castle, then went to Paris and did the same with the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triumph.

There are so many beautiful, detailed things to destroy!

I even learned something ... I had no idea that Paris had a Statue of Liberty-type statue next to a bridge, but I spotted it while flying low over the river.

I can't wait to bomb the @#%^ out of it.

Just kidding.

It's totally a job for rockets.

The only things missing to make you feel like you're actually *IN* 1944 Paris, are the white flags and rude waiters.  Aside from that, it feels pretty damn close.

I'm running a 2080Ti in both VR and on a 5120 x 1440 Ultra-Wide 49" monitor, and the models are sharp with FPS in the range of Normandy 1.0.

Anyway, outstanding release.  Just superb.  And while I really appreciate the discount, It's such a massive upgrade to Normandy 1 that it's an entirely new map altogether, and I would not have balked at paying $60 for it.   Anyone griping about paying < $20 for it is nuttier than a squirrel's turd, IMHO.

This map was definitely worth the wait.  Great job, and thanks for creating it.  It has already begun to increase my enjoyment of DCS.

The beaches look a lot different than when I visited in '74.  The same with Avranches.  London sure has grown up a bit.

Really an impressive piece of work.  I know that there are some updates that will be done, and I can wait for that to occur.  It is REALLY nice.  The bocage looks a lot better....have to relearn my landmarks, but hey, I can live with that.

Oh it’s pretty good alright. Kept me awake til way too late. I flew a Mossie under Tower Bridge then a Spit as it’d be rude not to. Under the Eiffel Tower I said to the missus there’ll be tons of people flying under the same bits. Came here and yep, we’re all at it.

Well done and thanks to all involved. image.gif

The map is absolutely stunning! I had some moments tonight that felt like they were straight out of books I've read from World War 2 aces.

The high detail level of this map is really awesome!

Sadly it took me nearly one full day from purchase to enjoying the full fidelity of Normandy 2.0 due to the upgrading problems using Steam.

Day #4 and I'm still really enjoying it.

I spent the first few days at < 1,000 AGL buzzing everything in sight, and even breaking the "immersion wall" by firing up a Huey for some sightseeing.  Not just the cities, but even the rural airfields like Conches is awesome, with rusted farm equipment, grain silos, etc.  There's so much to see and there are so many objects and models to discover, it must have been beyond tedious, but the benefit is all ours.

After hugging the ground for a couple of days, I finally climbed to FL30 I was just as blown away!  It's the most realistic-looking high-altitude landscape I've yet to see in DCS.  You can see the relief and large-scale detail that really feels true-to-life.   You can see every valley and crevice, and the rivers reflect light like they do in meatspace.

It's just incredible.

Honestly, I'd call this one a 10/10.  I was more or less expecting Normandy 1 with the Northern and Eastern edges of the map filled in (which I would have been happy with), but what we ended up getting has really exceeded my expectations.

Yes, Ugra did very good job. Map is really great! I recommend it without a doubt, and I only fly in VR and works and looks very well for me.

Congratulation. 🙏

Agreed to all.  After the usual "testing" ( immediately go see tower bridge and fly under it), I made up a simple free flight mission varying the parameters such as time and weather.  Found that the parameters make a huge difference, more so than on other maps.  If you are flying in June at 8am or noon, you are doing yourself a huge diservice.

All very simple changes - Spitfire, broken clouds, springtime, 5pm startup and takeoff from Kenley.  Rough plan was to overfly London, turn roughly south  west, overfly The Solent and the Isle of Wight, turn north to explore the countryside and then head for the south coast again to search for an airfield to land on when fuel started dropping below 20 gallons on the gauge and it was time to set up for maximum endurance.  All at 3000 or so so feet. Land with 10 gallons or so remaining.

The perfect sightseeing aircraft on the perfect sightseeing map.  As it grew dusk and everything turned golden coloured and hazy, have to say that it was probably the most immersive VR experience to date.  Very very beautiful flight , immersion ramped up by the frisson of seeing the fuel gauge dropping lower every time I pressed the button and wondering if it was worth squandering a little more fuel to see if there was an elusive airfield hiding in the cloud cast shadows ten miles off my port wing.

Thank you all involved in making this beauty of a map possible.

What an amazing piece of work.

I just had my first hour of fun with a quick fight mission close to the beaches and as soon as the battle was fought I took my wingman and flew to Paris listening to Edith Piaf. What a great experience. There is so much to explore in this map. Can't wait to explore everything.

Again, thousand thanks for giving DCS WWII a huge push with this great map. Love it.
