No Idea, but Apple is not renowned for playing well with the PC eco-system in which we run DCS...

Thanks for all the helpful replies.

It's worth noting that DCS World works perfectly on the following Mac gear:

Mac OS X 10.15 - Bootcamp - Windows 10 - 2 x SSD 1TB - T16000M HOTAS - DCS World & Open Beta -

You mean not running their latest architecture, and actually running windows... On a platform that is no longer fully supported... Sure

The price is sky high not solely because of the displays, but because of the massive processing power built in. It is intended to run standalone apps, and augmented reality. The display technology is not exclusive to Apple and will make it’s way to other, less crazy priced headsets. That said, it is not totally inconceivable the “Apple Reality Pro” could work with PC games. Just highly unlikely…

The specs sound crazy if true and image quality will probably blow everything else away.  However, I don’t expect it to work with DCS unless you can stream via specialized apps such as Virtual Destop…but let’s wait for the official announcement.

Worth noting for me as this is the first post I think I’ve read here from someone using a Mac running Bootcamp to fly DCS.

This headset doesn’t appeal to me, merely because I’m not interested in VR that much but it looks like another step forward, at another silly price.

Funny reading from people that have already invested in VR buckets to put their heads in poo-pooing it though. Personally, I’m not looking for ‘full immersion’ so flying pancake is exactly what I had in mind before I bought my computer. I looked at as many configs as I could bear and still wanted what I bought. Lovely 5k screen too. Having DCS running on it hasn’t been too shabby, maybe not all the bells and whistles but some of us aren’t looking for them in the first place. Interesting to see what’s knocking about though and amusing when it tickles the anti-mac brigade.

I’m on a 2019 iMac, i7, RadeonPro 5700xt, 4x1tb T7ssds, more HDDs, some mice, a Warthog, MFGs, trackir5, (beating anyones goggles) a cup of coffee and I’m quite happy without my head in a bucket flailing my arms about fumbling to adjust my undercarriage and for that reason, I won’t be investing and I’m out. - Sorry, wrong channel. 😝

You can rationalize as much as you want but if you are interested in flying a combat airplane on a PC, then immersion is inherently part of that.   We all share, deep down inside, that dream of flying one of these for real.

Dare to try VR out and you will never go back to pancake.

Been there, done this. So never say never. Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

There is lot to love about VR (in principle), but there is equally many objective flaws. Inferior picture quality, uncomfortable, higher hardware demands...etc.....

I'm sure that we will get there someday - but for now it is far from perfect.

I don't think anyone is saying that.  It takes more powerful and extra hardware to enjoy VR, but once you have a good setup you don't want to go back to pancake.

Still wrong. I'd suggest you let people make their own judgements.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience.  I am not forcing any decision here but simply stating my opinion.

I didn't have a bad experience. It worked for me, but still I prefer pancake for a couple of reasons. That is my only gripe with your statement.

1. I hate being evangelized.

2. Despite your absolute statement, VR isn't for everyone.

You love it. Great! I hope VR get's further improvement, so that you can enjoy it even more. More power to you. And I will for sure recheck and re-evaluate for myself later down the road.

If you take anything I said as an unbearable insult - you will have hard times on public forums. Just saying.

If you can't take the backlash, don't make such bold claims.

It’s hard to tell what 4,000 PPI means. 4,000 pixels for a 1” display? 4,000p? I can’t imagine any PC being able to handle that even in 2D let alone VR. And this isn’t even PCVR but a standalone. So you can see legless Meta cat avatars in Horizon Worlds in 20/20 clarity? 😆

😆 “Not interested that much”.

If I were completely disinterested I wouldn’t have looked in, did you consider that? Also interesting to see others using a similar set up to me starting a thread discussing it.

I missed your appointment as, well, anything constructive really but always a pleasure sweetheart, opinions are like arses, we’ve all got em. Don’t be upset, buy yourself a headset or something, maybe one of these. You’d be well placed to give everyone your judgement then and better inform everybody. 😉
