In the previous page it is said that it is a highly requested map, not desert, and he loves how pg has a strait that separates blue/red sides and he took this into consideration choosing the new map. Both Korea and Vietnam don’t have this. What other map is highly requested and has a body of water separating blue and red?

And ED will do Nam and Korea themselves. I agree. UNLESS it's The Baltics, but it makes more sense for ORBX to go there next.

Yeah, after observing the hints... my money is on the Balkans (and east Italy).  I feel like ED wants to do Vietnam themselves whilst simultaneously working on the whole world .  Urga would maybe do Korea?  Those are my guesses.  I still would like Iraq 1991 era but that's just me...    Balkans sounds good to me though.

Yeah, I’m betting on something like this.

it would be great: Croatian coast, a bit of Alps to play with, Aviano and a few cool cities.

That would be a tiny dcs map. About 70k km2, so smaller than original Normandy map, it would be the second smallest dcs map after Channel.

I don’t know what calculations you did, but that’s approximately 150k km2.

Baltic Approaches would tick those boxes, and be more in line with the typical map sizes.  Perfect hunting ground for ASuW Viggens and Tornados.

Personally, I'd like to stretch it to include Leuchars, Lossiemouth and Kinloss too! 🙂 And add a Buccaneer, and a Nimrod, and a Phantom FG1, and an F-16A, and...

Of course! The Holy Grail map consists of a complete European Cold War version.

Vietnam would be great but I think ED may already be working secretly on it.  We can already see their SEA grass experiments on every map in the game........

Most of the battles took part in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and then the allied bombings targeted the Rep.Sprska and Serbia itself. So this map would be pretty useless in historical terms.

I was thinking more of a Cold War scenario rather than Kosovo war. But you could go east until Belgrade making a 250k ish map.

Great to hear that, i hope for some first Cold War map in DCS, either Korea, Vietnam, Fulda Gap, GIUK etc.

There are dozens of Cold War era modules in DCS, both released and during development, but zero maps. Only "modern day" ones.

It's very difficult to create historic maps because you can't use geodata.

A modern map would be relatively easy to create if you can buy data and then just add final touches. Whereas in any historic setting you'd had to do everything by hand.

but at the speed DCS is moving Crimea is already semi historic, it's now 20 years old.

we are already negotiating, doing the terms of reference, we even have the first shots where I was able to fly. But until the contract is signed, I cannot say what it will be. But I will say one thing:
- this map has long been requested by the users
- and this is definitely not a desert map (enough, we ate enough sand during development 😄)

Vietnam or Korea I hope 🙂

ED has talked many timers with they dont go to "return" Crimea to Caucasus or expand the map by the actual political / War situation, has many sensible and dont like see ED team on problems. And dont expect them builded by a 3rd Party... examble Dekka dont build Taiwan, by the same situation.
