I would like the game avionics mode to return. Since this mode is no longer available, it has become more difficult to check the game balance of my own scenario. Also, at least the ground attack missions became more stressful than exhilarating as a game.

According to the website...1 of the key features in 2.8 is: 'Both hardcore realistic and casual gameplay modes'. In Open Beta now it only has Game Flight Mode & NO Game Avionics Mode.

I'm a very casual player so the Game Avionics Mode was very handy for me to jump to instant action without having to worry about learning systems on most of the modules and having a bit of fun. Since I usually use Open Beta I haven't updated DCS World because I don't want to lose the Game Avionics Mode and now I can't use some of my latest purchases in DCS World because I need to update.

So...has Game Avionics Mode been taken out of DCS Open World 2.8? If it has...could you please bring it back for both platforms?

I'm sure there are many other who want the same!

Cheers

I can’t imagine enough people used Game Mode to make it worthwhile for the Devs to devote resources to it. I agree with the decision to remove it. Now this time and effort can be better spent on other things.

None of the latest modules supported Game Mode Avionics anyway, especially 3rd party modules.

Game Mode (Avionics and Flight Models) have been depreciated for a while,
Game Mode Flight model is the next to go, as several modules don't use it, and with  several modules it doesn't work correctly at all.

It seems like your looking for a simplified game/sim experience that will be fulfilled by MAC (Modern Air Combat) which is currently in development by ED. However that game will be limited to a set list of simplified aircraft to start with. Until then you are just going to have to do like real fighter pilots do and stick to just one aircraft  that is simple enough to learn all of its systems to be certified in. Thats why I love the Viggen jaja

  • 14 exceptional combat aircraft from the United States, Russia, China and Czech Republic.
  • Shallow learning curve with consistent key controls between aircraft, and easy to fly with just a keyboard.
  • Professional level flight models, but with option for forgiving flight dynamics.
  • Play instant action, single missions and campaigns for most aircraft in single player or fly online.
  • Supports Virtual Reality like Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality.
  • Includes the Caucasus map and portions of Nevada and the Persian Gulf.
  • Purchase MAC aircraft individually or as a pack at a reduced price.
  • Flaming Cliffs 3 owners can purchase the MAC pack at a great discount.
  • F-15C Eagle

I know that the Game Modes don't work on all Modules...I didn't mind that as I have quite a few 3rd Party Modules. But, I don't have time to sit for hours on end learning new systems for the aircraft...constantly rebinding keys like you hardcore armchair pilots who probably spend most of your time looking at a screen & I don't see how devs could be wasting too much time on the game modes considering the complexity of rest of the sim itself. And I didn't have any issues with switching between Game modes & Sim modes. Like I said before...not everyone are hardcore simmers!

From what I read...there isn't anything currently in development regarding MAC.

Gee...Thanks for the advice!

Look at it this way. The plane is the game. You could spend $60 on a FPS game that provides 20 hours of entertainment playing through its campaign. For the same price a DCS module gets you at least that in exploring it and then hundreds more in the game itself. Quite a bargain!

I think your missing my point...I have no problem learning the aircraft systems for the modules that don't support the game modes...when I have the time. But now and then I like to just get into the game to fly and blow @#it up with the sense of a bit of realism without the technical side of things. For you hardcore simmers it's easy...just turn the game modes off! I just think it would be good to still have the choice between Game Modes & Sim Modes!

So you want the sim users to turn off "Game Mode" in a Sim?
DCS World is a Simulator First and Foremost, asking ED to make Game Modes default to where anyone that wants realism has to turn them off, is the Opposite direction and target audience for DCS World,

Here's the Rub,
Game Mode Avionics, requires a separate set of systems for each module, it's simply not feasible anymore with all the modules, and new systems being integrated w/ almost every patch.
Game Mode Flight Models, requires a separate flight model for each module, again, simply not feasible anymore. Half of the Game Mode Flight Models are broken and unsupported.

Turning on Either of those throws out any sense of realism.
If you want to just jump in a blow stuff up, then FC3 (and eventually MAC) is what your looking for.
As Game Mode throws away any sense of realism with exception of the Visual Representation of the aircraft.

Its being depreciated because it doesn't fit with the DCS World Target Audience or the core of the Sim anymore.

Wasting development time only to code whole new dumbed down enviroment, less realistic, more simplified, more fictional and made up. If i would be a developer coding such dumbed down version of my work would be the worst part of my job.

Instead of many anticipated MORE realistic and LESS dumbed down features like SAM enviroment, radar simulation, IRST simulation, more realistic weather interaction, more realistic naval behaviour and systems simulation, more realsitic ground vehicle weapon simulation and armor, more realsitic damage simulation etc.

It's not that it doesn't just work on some moduals. It creates bugs across the entire game. It literally makes the game worse, more buggy, less functional.

If you just want action.  It takes 5 minutes to set up any plane for easy air to air combat.

In the F16 It's literally 1 button push to set the plane up for close range missle and gun combat.

And the FC3 planes also just need 5 minute set up time and they use mostly the buttons across al plane.

Game mode does not make the game simpler or easier just worse.

Isn’t that what FC3 are for, along with the “game” mode that is in the options?

Yesterday I've put an Abrams vs Lafarge cement factory with its new damage models. First class fun blowing it up and watching it fall down 💥 Add terrorists for some more.

Run any FC3 Instant Action and you blow stuff up in minutes! Even FF modules have nice IA missions ready for action, just a few buttons away.

Wait, off topic, but the new Syria building damage is already in? I thought that was for the next update? With this one mostly dealing with preperformance stuff(and the all important right hand drive on Cyprus)

Yes, but only a part of it, including Aleppo power plant and Lafarge.

You mean the one that's no longer there, hence the reason users created this thread.
