Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,

We are excited to announce the DCS: F-104 now under development with our third-party partners, Aerges! More than 2’500 of these fabulous interceptors were flown by 15 nations from the 1950s until 2004. The Lockheed F-104 was a lightweight, Mach 2 interceptor with phenomenal rate of climb and excellent roll rate thanks to its unique, high wing loading design. During its service, it set multiple performance records including airspeed, altitude, and time-to-climb. A hallmark of the “Century Series” of USAF aircraft, the F-104 will be a must have for DCS Cold War pilots.

Aerges is also looking forward to bringing you their latest update on the DCS: Mirage F1. Offering exciting enhancements and the two-seat BE variant! Please read the details below and check out the Development Screenshots.

DCS Indonesia - Garuda Virtual Air Wing, together with DCS Malaysia, are proudly hosting the Asia Region Combat Competition finale! Join them live and please show some support for the quarter final event showcasing aerial prowess and determination in DCS.

Please note, we are upgrading our database and our services will be temporarily unavailable from 4:00 to 6:00 UTC on the 28th of August, 2023.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,
Eagle Dynamics

Aerges has made great modules so far. If they manage to create those flaws too, the F-104 could be one of the most interesting cold war jets.

I mean this beast is unforgiving to pilot errors like no other in DCS.

I'm looking forward to the kill the pilot competition between F104 and MiG23

I see myself creating an additional pilot in the DCS Logbook, that only flies the F-104. Maybe set to mortal and count the maximum hours those guys stay(ed) alive. Could be a new and challenging experience.

Starfighters served well with Canadians and Spanish air forces. That Krauts flew it down low in clouds above German hilly countryside, having the last stick time in 109s ain't Starfighter"s fault.

This!
it wasn’t a dangerous aircraft per se. It surely was a demanding aircraft, but what made it dangerous was flying it in conditions and roles it wasn’t designed to.

Should be fine as long as you don't try to take off, land or get into a turn fight. 🙂 Flying it low and trying to use it as a bomber certainly didn't help, but it was a demanding jet with ridiculously high wing loading for a fighter. That means it didn't like being slow and had a very nasty stall, so every takeoff and landing, particularly in crosswinds, will be an adventure. For the same reason, any attempt at turning will bleed airspeed fast. It will not be an easy ship to fight in, that's for sure, particularly against contemporary MiGs, although it should do OK against them in vertical.

The Canadians flew mostly above same hilly terrain (out of Baden-Söllingen, Lahr and Zweibrücken) in clouds and lost a higher percentage of their fleet than ze Germans.
